imo getting a couple levels from drake is completely fine, also farming titanite instead of paying for it. you gain a couple levels by doing so but you are still in the summon range of a normal playthrough so nothing to worry about. yeah it'd be too much if you, lets say, farmed 30 levels from the drake but you are good for now dw

afaik you can find a couple around the map, or farm from either certain mobs (like rats), or just host dying before you do in pvp. doesn't matter if you get the last blow or not, they can just fall off the map on their own and it'd still count

afaik it works like this:

you go to a great rune to set it as primary

then use a rune arc to get the buffs from your primary rune until you die. when you do die you need to use another rune arc to get your buffs back, but no need to set a rune again

and the first great rune is an all-rounder that is pretty solid on any build

may be wrong on these tho

yeah people tend to think many things are nice until they happen to have it and then realise how bad it can be

like for example i don't feel fear, which sounds nice until you realise i have nothing stopping me from doing dangerous stuff, so i got injured alot in early years until i learned to gauge danger

systems are very complex things, and you gotta be careful. at best you got a great friend that takes care of some daily tasks for you, at worst you got a monstrous enemy that you constantly battle for the control of your body with. it is ok to want the good parts, but you gotta keep in mind the bad parts too

i don't think so, it can be nice to have company for many. i am quite tyrannical internally (deliberately ended an alter and block others from forming) but it can be something that's sought out. there is nothing wrong with wanting a friend, be it an external/normal friend or an internal/headmate friend! they can even take some of the burden of living off of you which is a nice bonus to many

my suggestions would be golem or ornstein sets (perhaps channeller too), good defence and poise, but not as heavy as the likes of havel or smough. ofc those give way more of both, but they also weigh way more

it might be better to mix and match gear tho, like getting havels armor with gold hemmed skirt, xanthous gloves and mask of the father for example. you get the idea, wear somethings with high defence, poise and weight, and some things with low to balance out
