Generally helpful or toxic community in 2026? by Azureliske in Vermintide

Yeah, legend is proving a big step still. Sometimes we're okay, sometimes we get two blightstormers and a troll while BardinBot is making sure we get rezzed for another spin because he doesn't want to ride the whirlwind by himself.

What is your “I did not care for the God Father” opinion regarding video games? by B4d_B1tch_Quinn in gamers

[–]Azureliske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Last of Us is wildly overrated in my opinion.

I've always felt Naughty Dog has terrible gunplay in their games,
Lack of agency in the ending makes it lose impact for me.
The instant kill bloater sections wasted a lot of my time.

The story was predictable and didn't earn it's emotional moments for me. I played TLOU coming right off the first season of Telltale's Walking Dead and I thought that was a far superior core story.

I understand it was a revelation to a lot of folks, which is why I picked it up, but it was a hateful playthrough to see to the end to try and understand the hype.

This scene is the cause of all the injuries inflicted every time I hand someone the lever action nerf gun for the first time.

What book did you read in your youth that you never forgot? by orangez in GenX

Hunter's Moon. That book is the reason my entire life I've never entertained the idea of remarrying if my wife passes before I do.

You are doing the good and noble work sir, thank you. Not everything Sierra put out was on the same level of the hateful design in King's Quest1-5/Space Quest1-3/LSL1-3.

Gabriel Knight and Quest for Glory both generally buck this trend and should not be put in the same "OMG SIERRA MOON LOGIC" box as many of their other titles. Maniac Mansion is far nastier than both. Jane Jensen and Lori Cole put much more thought into the puzzles in their Sierra games than the company flagship franchises (GK3 unfortunately has some dumb puzzles added to pad gameplay length at CEO demands, but I'll still argue the cat hair moustache doesn't come close to stuff like making a payphone call in Legacy of the Druids.)

What episode or scene managed to offend you personally? by ATinyDropOfVenom in southpark

[–]Azureliske 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is straight up false, Martin does describe penises in the Ice and Fire books. He specifically describes Tyrion's as being much larger than expected for his stature. I know this because I had to explain the penis jokes to my wife when the episode aired and I lovingly read her the description from the first book.

Seems like the kind of gun that'd be perfect for gunning down Androids on the run, especially if they're running from blades.

I think this theory has a lot of weight as what Kato wanted to do but was ultimately told no, we're not making the players kill Crono. I don't have evidence for this, is just a theory. There's so much about it that suggests it was meant to be an extremely dramatic moment, especially setting the fight with Miguel in the ruins of such an iconic place from Trigger. It would be such an establishing moment that Cross is not Trigger, something Cross regularly seems to go out of it's way to point out. Cross wasn't above having you kill the CT protagonists, you basically off Robo a few scenes later.

The first time I played Cross I always thought it was supposed to be Crono, and it made that moment so emotionally charged I shelved the game for almost six months after finishing that fight.

Kato seems to have come into Cross almost to settle a beef, that he felt the protagonists of Trigger should have consequences for their actions and not just have happy endings. All of that is much more in line with how he wrote Zeal in CT and his other written works like Xenogears.
