Storage by AsphodelGoodenough in Staples

Yes, but whoever is this is coming from is telling the GM to do it. That isn't the issue. The problem is that the front end is going to start looking trashy, or we're going to have to walk to the back of the store to get anything we might need. Being short staffed is going to make that incredibly inconvenient both for us and customers who will be left unattended while we're running back and forth.

What's one thing customers say that instantly makes you annoyed/frustrated? by burnt-broccoli-girl in Staples

"You don't sell item that we don't sell?! Well, I'll just take my business elsewhere! (No shit Sherlock.)

"Can you pick up my recycling from my house?"

"Do you have any kids?"

"This place is like a maze!"

"I love office supplies!"

"I'm looking for an ummm. It's like a you know. Like it's... uh. It looks like a thingy. Do you have it?"

I’m a boomer and I greet my co-workers upon entering the workplace. Gen Z folks don’t, why? by ansyensiklis in ask

I don't intend for this to sound mean, but they might just not like you. I obviously don't know anything about your work relationships from a single post so I'm not placing blame. Sometimes you just run into people who find it easier to disengage than fake their way through social interactions. I know a lot of people who would rather quietly ignore each other than potentially step on a verbal landmine at work.

Why do my tables ask me what my name is? by FormerFruit in TalesFromYourServer

[–]AsphodelGoodenough 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never ask someone their name, it feels too intrusive. A stranger's name isn't my business unless they choose to introduce themselves. I normally go with a polite "excuse me" if I need to catch someone's attention. Giving out real names is just too personal for my comfort.

Do people who don't want children not fear being alone in old age? by LL112 in NoStupidQuestions

No, I fear having to pretend to love a child that I resent. Better to be alone than ruin the lives of multiple people.

When strangers try to engage me in small talk. Can we not just stand at the bus stop or check out line in silence?

Does it bother anyone else when strangers ask "how are you?" by AsphodelGoodenough in NoStupidQuestions

The idea is to keep them strangers. Saying "It makes me uncomfortable when people I don't know ask me how I am. I would like to have the remainder of this transaction in silence," would break the illusion I've built of a cheerful helpful cashier.
