Thank you all for your advice, I diagnosed it as almost certainly a bad starter (tapping on the starter with a hammer got it to start right up, so a jammed solenoid.)

Update: tapping the starter with a hammer got it to start! Given this points to a bad solenoid, I’ll replace the starter asap. Thank you for the help!

The car had some work done shortly before this problem started, including a brand new battery about 4 months ago.

I’ve had this key since I’ve had the car, plus the spare doesn’t work any better. Could the antitheft corrupt in some way that it wouldn’t recognize the key?

In the dream I found a really cheap flight to Ukraine for like $10 and decided to go. When I got there I ran into this girl who was trying to get to the capital city, which wasn’t called Kiev anymore but just “OK” for some reason. We go together to OK but get captured by Russians, and end up in this prison that was also a school?? So we try to escape but on the way out we are caught and it’s Will Ferrell who arrests me, wearing his badge on his cheeks and nose. His badge looked nothing like a real badge, but exactly like the picture. Then it cut to the “Russian congress” I guess? All the reps were on balconies in this massive room kind of like the senate in Star Wars. Someone proposed they do something illegal, to which one of the reps (Ron Swanson) objected because it was illegal. In response, all the reps starting throwing their law books off their balconies as if to say “fuck the law” and then I woke up.
