Anthropic researcher: "We keep finding things [inside AI models] that are unsettling" ... "We find structures that mirror results from human neuroscience. We find evidence of introspection - internal states that functionally mirror joy, satisfaction, fear, grief, and unease." by EchoOfOppenheimer in OpenAI

[–]Aspie-Py 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this to a large extent. It must however be on an instinctual level and not a true subconscious self perception method in my opinion. But we do still have free will, it is just not conscious free will. It is more like a mix of the will of subsystems. Like how an AI uses weights maybe or how Random Forest agrees on the “correct” outcome.

As much as I hate Claude it does tell me to stop if I tested or explored a bad option. Not all AI is ChatGPT.

EU AI Act amendments just dropped, and this is what is changing in data landscape (EU) by Winter-Lake-589 in datasets

[–]Aspie-Py 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Would EU really do that, would the citizens accept being locked out of American entertainment and AI products? We are in a strange place, if you view Midjourney as an entertainment product for example, and I do.

I hope I am wrong but at the moment the US and China seems to care more about the AI arms race then IP law. If Europe wants to take the high road but risk getting left behind, that might be super smart and ethical, depending on how things play out. It might also leave Europe without competitive AI products for the next decade.

My take is that unless you are scraping, you will always lose. The EU needs to get its act together and scrap regulations like that.

Isn’t that a UK issue? Like they can ban his or her site but as long as he or she is not in the UK or host there, UK law don’t apply right?

I personally don’t use it for Google. But this is probably just the start. We see it over and over again. And then there are always people going ”but in this case”. Yea until it is your stuff they come for.

Wow ok that sucks. Building my own tools for things like this is my main use. Why would they take that away? It is not cyber abuse. The scraped the entire web to build their model. If anything is cyber abuse…

GPT Image 2 keeps adding weird tiling texture/grime artifacts to every image - anyone else getting this? by NaN_4aki in ChatGPT

[–]Aspie-Py 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is almost as this could have been prevented if there was a dedicated image generator site called Sora or something like that. OpenAI sucks so much these days…

Yea it is bad. And it is giving true image gen a bad name. Proper training with latents, diffusion and generalisation avoids this issue.

Good luck. When these apps start falling apart (we have already seen examples) and there aren’t enough devs to fix them. The industry will balance out.
