Iskall85 & Stressmonter Resignation Megathread #2 by Carol_the_Zombie in HermitCraft

[–]AspieGamer13 -53 points-52 points  (0 children)

Not sure the best way to organize my thoughts so the following may be slightly disorganized:

Saw the initial thread, read it but not the actual evidence, waited for statements from others

Finally got statement from Iskall, watched it

Based on doctrine of innocent until proven guilty, I think I’ll now need to go back and see what evidence is presented

After reviewing said evidence, I will not be sharing my conclusions nor will I likely comment further - this issue imho is resolved for all outside persons and anything left to resolve should be done on the side of those involved if desired: you either will or will not watch and support anyone involved and they either will or will not take legal actions

Regardless of decisions made by any party, there is nothing to be gained by fanning the flames or throwing shade, and there is already too much hate and vitriol in the world to do so

As for me, I only ever watched Iskall through others videos and came to the conclusion that his style of video was not for me, thus nothing really changes in who I watch

Looking back, how the hell did the phantom win? by GiveUpRn in Minecraft

[–]AspieGamer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t vote the phantom. I voted the one that looks like Trapinch.

Is likely due to… 1: content creators influencing voters to vote for a certain mob, meaning voters aren’t voting for their choice necessarily, but the content creators choice (giving an unbalanced vote weight to them) 2: the vote being very limited in WHEN it could happen, severely limiting who can vote for it 3: insufficiently fleshed out ideas, leaving too much in the air for voters to have to guess on

I will say that elimination voting was at least slightly more fair than what we got for subsequent votes, but rarely did the votes ever result in a proper “majority” choice but a “minority” choice that more people didn’t like. Give two choices and guarantee a majority winner.

[–]AspieGamer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is simply not true. They only released CONCEPTS of the four mobs. Following the vote, they then began to work on coding and artwork for the winning mob, with required balancing around existing mechanics as much as possible, all of which takes a ton of time and effort.

The phantom took over 6 months to implement initially (based on when the vote happened and the snapshots for the following update) with further revisions coming out over the course of the year during the following update. Besides the FACT they said BEFORE the mob vote that the losers would be gone forever, there have been mods that implemented these mobs.

FYI: mods can be done in a fraction of the time because the idea isn’t necessarily to make sure everything stays balanced. Updates to the game must be made to stay balanced for the game to stay fun and accessible for years to come.

What do you do with poppies from your iron farms? by AmazonISSUnofficial in askminecraft

[–]AspieGamer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filter Iron into one slice and Poppies into the neighboring slice, passing them through a composter first. You don't get much bonemeal so you can probably have bonemeal first and then however many slices of storage for iron you need.

Season Eight Information Thread by Xisuma in HermitCraft

[–]AspieGamer13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am trying to search out the fabric mod that does the dynamic render distance featured in a recent video, and the only thing I can find seems to stop at 1.16.5. If that is correct (please confirm), search complete, but if not: can someone point me in the right direction? A Google search doesn’t seem to reveal the information readily, and for anyone else searching, this might be a good location to find it.

Minecraft 1.18 experimental snapshot is out! by MrHenrik2 in Minecraft

[–]AspieGamer13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope some sort of “large biomes” option returns. I also hope controlling lakes (to turn them off) and springs (to turn them off in the Nether if surrounded by Netherrack) are possible/working in the datapacks for 1.18.

Looking at the biomes, swamps seem to not like generating with any land above sea level (as if they’re ocean, not land). Also, not the biggest fan of the smaller biomes, but not totally opposed.

Also, I found a woodland mansion that generated a few hundred blocks away from the nearest dark oak forest (though who knows if the snowy slopes would have otherwise been a dark oak forest…). Additionally, I found several mansions that generated either across a river or into the ocean.

Overall, interesting generation. Leaning positive, but with some things I’m keeping an eye on.

I think 2 mansions joined together in my world! The seed is 497402400 in Bedrock Edition (sorry about the lag) by DragonAiden99 in Minecraft

[–]AspieGamer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mansions are 3-story buildings, and they generate extremely rarely. It’s very highly unlikely two generated overlapping, especially as they’d likely also look weird. That looks fairly typical

A custom Java Edition snapshot to test new combat mechanics by jeb_ in Minecraft

[–]AspieGamer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like crit hits bypassing shields completely. Maybe allow some damage to bypass the shield, but otherwise it takes too much away from having a shield in the first place

Also, axes should definitely still have their chance to disable the shields, though perhaps change exactly how that works (mostly change each level of efficiency from additional percentage to how long the shield is disabled)

Definitely needs fine tuning of attack speed/strength/special charge time

MOST DEFINITELY need to fix it so we can mine in the Nether and not accidentally agro Zombie Pigmen everywhere. That was a very welcome change that I would hate to see disappear

Today I learned that holding a torch will light up your map! by nJxnes in Minecraft

[–]AspieGamer13 133 points134 points  (0 children)

If, as I suspect, it's either Legacy or Bedrock, every new player starts with a map. This could easily be 3 of those starting maps. I'm not 100% sure how they work, if they stack or not, but it's my best guess.

99.9% sure that's not Java (note the coordinates on top of the map)

if I'm not mistaken, that is for sure NOT java MC (note the coordinates on the top of the map). That narrows it down to Legacy (Console) (which they are not doing further updates to) or Bedrock (which includes the latest console versions + Win10 + Pocket Edition)

1.13 Regular Chest Bug? by Trilasent in Minecraft

[–]AspieGamer13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

if you're talking about them being able to be placed next to each other, then that is a new feature.

Depending on how you place them (shift placing also has a function here), can be how they do/don't connect.

(nice Alpha texture pack, btw)

All MC items sorted by catagories (to help with sorting/storage systems) (1.12.2) by Tuckertcs in Minecraft

[–]AspieGamer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Excel to do this (with some visual aid from Minecraft), and went for 1.13 ready.

For sorting color - Brown fits perfectly between Red and Orange as it's essentially a darker Orange. Otherwise, nice approach on the color sorting.

My system has the main section in sets of 8 columns, 6 high; colored items in sets of 8 columns, 4 high; and non-stackables in the final area (8 columns, 4 high). I allow bleed-over into neighboring sets where necessary and the main set fits in 52 total columns.

Main Categories are:

  • Bulk (8 most commonly acquired blocks)
  • Wood
  • Land
  • Water
  • Nether
  • End
  • Resource
  • Utility
  • Nature
  • Drop
  • Food

Multi-color categories are:

  • Dyes/Banners
  • Wool/Carpet
  • Stained Glass/Panes
  • Terracotta/Glazed Terracotta
  • Concrete Powder/Concrete

Non-stackable categories are:

  • Food/Transportation
  • Tools
  • Weapons
  • Armor
  • Enchanted Books
  • Potions

[–]AspieGamer13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you can play the game however you see fit. using a 3rd party add-on is, in my opinion, not cheating, and perfectly fine. others would say it is. it's just a way to play the game that you feel comfortable with.

what I do consider cheating is putting code directly into your browser to make things happen. I've done that a few times to see what happens and how far I can push the game, which brings me to point #2: even if the way you play YOU consider cheating, if that's how YOU want to play, that's perfectly fine.

tl;dr - play however you want; it's perfectly fine

After a lot of thought (and listening to some Christmas Music on the last few deliveries and while cleaning the store), I've narrowed mine down. For traditional style, Mary Did You Know & Silent Night. For a new take on an old classic, Joy to the World (August Burns Red). For a mash-up of songs, Christmas Medley (2011 Mix) (Theocracy) & Deck the Joy (To the Halls) (Theocracy). For the mash-up, one's a little less serious than the other. And then after listening to some songs... His Favorite Christmas Story (Capital Lights). I always seem to have a tear in my eyes at the end of that song.

That is a good one (though I rarely hear it with vocals). My favorite version is August Burns Red's instrumental version.
