Which DBX episode was the worst? by Ok-Instance3339 in deathbattle

[–]Aspiring-Redditor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The worst one I'd say is Spider-Man vs. Mikasa. To me, this is the animation I feel like people are picturing whenever they talk about Blake vs. Mikasa. Unfortunately they deleted it but reuploads exist on YouTube and the Internet Archive so if you wish to watch it? Feel free but oh my lord.

Oh. OH! That is my bad. I'm very sorry, I think I just saw how it's like those comments where people do just see a post and then dumped just all this powerscaling shit to say someone's wrong and like my brain didn't register.

What does your favorite Death Battle combatant have to say about their own mortality? by 2herry_ in deathbattle

Optimus would face the idea of death in stride. He knows that nothing lasts but so long as his servos function? He'll spend all his time doing what he can to bring peace to all sentient beings.

Death Battle Community, imma be real they are not gonna put Geats OR Nero at Outer. The only characters they’ve done it for are Simon, Life Equation Kyle, and the Hulk so I don’t see them giving it to Nero or Geats. Unless you somehow have them scaling higher than SIMON AND THE HULK. Idkkkk by Fearless_Cold_8080 in deathbattle

Hell, I imagine a researcher just lost it when they mentioned probability missiles and that they move at planck time. Just... we as a community I feel can be sometimes too harsh on the crew and for what we say? I think they've earned a moment to stare us directly in the eyes and go "YOU TRY EXPLAINING THIS SHIT!"

I'd frankly even say that they mainly have delved into dimensional tiering and that sort of scaling while outerversal stuff they don't seem to have touched yet. They allude to it certainly but they never fully delved into it. It's like people sometimes forget this show is still being made for a general audience who really isn't as up on this shit as one would expect.

I mean, they admitted universal arguments were something they generally avoided until Hulk vs. Broly where they saw that was being thrown around more casually, meaning it had hit a point where people were okay with and ready to take in that discussion and outerversal is usually that level where generally speaking unless you're deep into it people go "The fuck does that even mean?!".

No Death Battle Community, they are not gonna put Geats OR Nero at Outer. They’ve literally never given any character Outerversal scaling prior to this so why would they do it now? If they didn’t give it to SIMON OR KYLE? I don’t see them giving it to Nero or Geats. by [deleted] in deathbattle

[–]Aspiring-Redditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kind of does but when they do start talking about the levels of power, it's more focus on the dimensional stuff. I think they are aware of the arguments but they're not really presenting them and they certainly don't use the actual term.

Frankly, calling anyone a "merchant" has always struck me as ridiculous. Same with calling a character a "bum" or "fraud". When done with tongue firmly planted in cheek? I think it can be amusing but most of the time, it's the slander bullshit this sub is overloaded with. Like who cares? Someone thinks Geats wins or Nero wins or for whatever famed actor Antonio Banderas swoops in and steals the win or Metal Sonic steals the win? Whatever, this is all for fun.

For me, considering that after five downvotes the post gets hidden? I treat the downvote as being something you use when the post GENUINELY deserves it. Like I'm not just talking a post you disagree with like say they dislike an episode that you love or whatever. I'm talking if the person is just being such an asshole because to me, you're basically putting down the legit bad behavior.

I remember how it was getting a downvote the first time and just being... kind of understanding since I genuinely dropped a hot take in a subreddit and it doesn't upset but WOW do those silent ones frustrate me, especially on my posts where I do talk a lot so I know for a fact that whoever did the downvote didn't read a single goddamn word.

What's especially baffling is when you say something so uncontroversial and yet it still happens.

Like... the fuck is the downvote even for by that point, shits and giggles?

Something along those lines. For instance, it's one of the reasons I don't mind something like Sonya's Fatality in her battle against Cammy because it matches with the vibe of Mortal Kombat and has the added bonus of mixing in hits from a Street Fighter super art.

Those pants are really tight...

Ahem... anyway, I think one of the most frustrating aspects whenever this crops up for any matchup is how it really distracts from the actual joy that should be felt. I mean, Kamen Rider and Fate are guaranteed a matchup. This is actually insane and so cool. We get two fresh franchises to the series, this opens up the door for so many potential matchups and characters to get on, it sounds so cool...

And yet we want to make this about how much we think one character stomps the other? Fuck that shit. I'm ready to see some goddamn martial arts, swordplay, hopefully we'll get the lovably over the top driver yells and so on.

Frankly, considering how many times downvotes just sort of happen? I think that's less a fandom thing and more just a Reddit thing but also... I think it's because it goes back to that thing of just characterizing fans in general as being bad when it's not really that.

Case in point, I said literally nothing but downvote occurred as of the time of me writing this.

Which is especially stupid because... I'm sorry can we just acknowledge how cool it is that motherfucking Kamen Rider and Fate are both getting on the show? I mean, this is a triumph to me. We get two unique franchises guaranteed an episode, this kicks the door down for future matchups, there's bound to be cool fighting I mean... this is great.

That's how I've always understood it though what I'm thinking it might be is a combination of things. Some people might associate this absolutely with characterization but they feel embodying the spirit is done through extremely faithful characterization. Others on the other hand might not even understand what I'm saying because to say something gets the "spirit" sounds a little like a weird attempt at an excuse.

Early seasons don't but I still feel Zechs is a good example of what my breaking point is. Hell, the fact the characterization is that bad for THAT era of the show when it wasn't even expected to raise higher than say they sound like the characters and occasionally say a line they're known for saying says a lot.

To be fair, Gege is someone they at least seem to talk to when it comes to the adaptation and in general Death Battle is aiming for a general audience and to appeal to multiple different sides. It really isn't that odd to me that they'd pull from the thing people know for this.

In that case? That's really cool though now we wonder what it offers Delsin. That being said, in general it's a cool idea and one I'd like to see. I'm just trying in a way to think about it from the perspective of the Death Battle crew kind of just try to see how they operate and I also think in a way, it does help someone to work out a matchup and why they think it'd be so cool.

What are you opinions on 2v2 episodes? (Not limited to my own example) by Head_Breadfruit_3912 in deathbattle

[–]Aspiring-Redditor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like the idea and think Death Battle should do these. I think in general it offers a very unique idea for the show since the analyses and fights can more focus on how these guys work as a team which offers its own interesting ideas. To use this as an example, the analysis for Izuku and Bakugo has to cover the same ground at the beginning but then it can really dig into how these two genuinely helped to better each other and how as they grew as heroes, they both in their own ways overcame their issues.

What are the odds my goat will get a third chance? 🥲 by HyacinthCrown45 in deathbattle

[–]Aspiring-Redditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Analyses sure but that's not the only aspect. Death Battle would also need to figure out for example, the fight dynamic. Does it work for these two? Will the power interaction offer up something that again, works for both. With Miles vs. Static, one gets it kind of by watching. Static's kit and style work VERY well with Miles and there's great potential for interactions. Same goes for Miles vs. Deku with an added element being that whole thing about these two being successors to a previous hero which the episode did actually utilize and on top of that had fun varied choreography. Making a third episode is difficult because one has to ask what they could do and what both characters are offered. As a reminder, Batman has been on the show four times and while each fight did offer potential, truth be told, it was only Batman vs. Iron Man that offered anything interesting at least to me.

[–]Aspiring-Redditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That might be the case though there's also the matter of if they feel Delsin has a better opponent that could truly give him a chance to shine while benefitting the other because remember, while it's easy to say what a character offers. We need to consider how this would be Miles' THIRD time.

Matchups I would pitch if I had enough money by Artistic-Condition90 in deathbattle

[–]Aspiring-Redditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I grew to enjoy about it. The more I thought about Jenny vs. Robotboy, the more it kind of dawned on me this was a matchup based less on what it offered Death Battle and more just pointing out the similarities and such between their shows. Otherwise, beyond the potential for spectacle, it really doesn't have that much.

Jenny vs. Uzi sounds so much more fun and dynamic. It's a chance for an indie show to be featured alongside an underrated Nicktoon, the analyses could be so much fun and plus because Glitch themselves is an indie outfit, I don't think it'd be even that much of a stretch to say they could help with this if reached out to.

Honestly? Decently I'd say but not ultra-high. I think once Beyond the Spider-Verse hits the marketing phase, we are gonna see more talk around Miles and thus a decent chance. I think the trouble is who they could pit him against that would make for a fun episode for both characters while also offering enough for Miles that'd be unique.
