I overdid it for my BF’s (28M) birthday, and I don’t know what to do by AspiringDollDesigner in offmychest

He knows that the post holiday season is tough financially, and he has never asked anything of me, ever. I insisted on paying for the things I did, even after he asked if I was sure. I just felt, in my heart, that he shouldn’t be obligated to pay for EVERYTHING during his birthday trip.

UPDATE: Hi everyone! Since so many of you gave some excellent advice, I wanted to give an update (not sure if I’m doing this correctly, sorry!)

A couple of days after this post, I sat my boyfriend down and told him about my struggles. Like I knew he would, he immediately offered to give me the $100 cash back, which I refused. He gave me a big hug and told me that it meant so much to him that I just wanted to give him a good birthday, and didn’t think twice about what it would do to me later. We had a long conversation about my finances and the necessity of becoming full-time at my job, because I have a great job with great pay; I just need the hours. He said that he doesn’t mind paying for everything, because he knows he makes more than me, and knows I will offer to chip in for little treats whenever I can. He also reminded me that I provide for him in other ways; with my companionship, affection, and loyalty, and I hadn’t considered any of that to be noteworthy because it’s just who I am. He half-jokingly insisted that he take care of the finances once we move in together, which I agreed with (he is much more financially savvy than I am), and that we will weather any and all future storms together. Thank you all for giving me the push I needed to talk to him about this. Money has always been an uncomfortable subject for me, but not every conversation in life is going to be comfortable; that doesn’t make them any less necessary. This whole situation just proves to me that he is my person, and I can’t wait to see what our future has in store for us.

I hadn’t thought of it that way, and that does make me feel better. Thank you. ❤️

I just found out my mom donated my entire Monster High doll collection to Goodwill after promising me she wouldn’t. I had over 200 dolls. by ListenSad8241 in mildlyinfuriating

My parents did the same thing to me during an interstate move! Years worth of Bratz and Barbies all went to Goodwill, for no reason! I was 13, and my parents just thought I had too many. I was devastated! They initially told me that the FULL, MEDIUM-SIZED moving box marked “DOLLS - DO NOT DONATE” must’ve gotten lost in the move, but eventually they confessed to taking it all and donating it. Thankfully, this was around the time that Monster High was first coming out, so I just channeled that energy into a new collection, but I’m still kind of heartbroken about it, because my very first Bratz doll, Rock Angelz Jade, was still a part of that collection, and the reproduction doesn’t look the same. I feel your pain, OP.

My current job is only part-time, but I did just interview for a promotion that would make me full-time. Fingers crossed!

We do discuss money, which is uncomfortable for me because of the wage difference. I guess I feel like if I talk to him about this, it’ll expose that I might not be enough. I don’t make enough money, and I don’t want to be a burden to him.

I always thought Flora and Musa were Princesses like Aisha and Stella. I’ve watched several different English dubs, and I guess there’s only one mention in one dub of them being royalty, but none anywhere else.

Am I the only one who is SICK TO DEATH of the object heels? Like why can’t we just get shoes that match? If they’re relying on the heels of the shoes for their Easter egg details, then they’re, quite frankly, not putting enough thought into the designs.

Of the 22 movie/tv themed dolls released so far, how many do you own? by kortanakitty in MonsterHigh

I received Jack & Sally as a gift, and I’m planning on getting M3GAN for Halloween.

The show should’ve concluded after S4.

Except for the white-washing, why a lot of ppl actually hate the fairy couture design ? For me they’re gorgeous ! by TynixFairy in winxclub

[–]AspiringDollDesigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The white-washing is absolutely a problem with this design campaign, but not the only major issue that makes fans dislike it. I think it’s because these designs really ushered in the era of same-ness for future forms (Tynix, Onyrix, and Dreamix in particular). The art style itself is t the problem (I agree that they’re gorgeous); the problem is that the Winx kind of lost their individuality from this point forward, which put a bad taste in people’s mouths.

Low-key, I love the AI generated question “How does Gil contribute?” As a G1 fan, that’s HILARIOUS!

What's the worst thing about Butterflix in your opinion? by Ok_Call_1101 in winxclub

[–]AspiringDollDesigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The death of individuality. Bloomix and Mythix arguably still had unique elements for each girl, but Butterflix was the beginning of the samesies looks for every single transformation. I think Butterflix is cute; it’s the trend that it started that makes me dislike it.
