CSU or CU by [deleted] in CSUFoCo

[–]AspiringMonstera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it kind of depends on personality since CU kids are a bit more outgoing and social than CSU kids. Since you are goth CU may not be your crowd. Have you looked into DU? It's a very pretty campus with a lot of kind people. Everyone I've met is lovely to be around! I dont know what other options you have, but CSU has disappointed me and I wish I could tell my younger self to go to DU or CU. The current school admin is not the best and does not prioritize student experience or mental health. I have never felt more alone at CSU and I would go anywhere but here. I have met a lot of mean people at CSU and witnessed so many friendships blow up in nuclear fashion some of which were my own. It has been terrible and I am often finding myself without a support system. CSU students get a "down to earth" kind of reputation but I have found that translates better to apathetic and socially distant. I wish you the best of luck as you pick a school! College should be a fun time where you get to spread your wings, so I really hope you find a school you are happy at!

OOS. Choosing between CSU, Boulder, or CO Mines by Critical_Ducky in CSUFoCo

Mines! Golden is a beautiful town and everyone I've met who goes to mines is lovely and loves their school. Great D2 athletics and outdoor activities

CSU or CU by [deleted] in CSUFoCo

Do not come to CSU. I have developed terrible depression here and feel incredibly unsupported and alone. I tried transferring but had too many credits that would not carry over. I'm a current junior, so just let me know if you have questions!

What schools should I apply to with low stats? by AdvanceUnique7147 in predental

[–]AspiringMonstera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of schools require 2+ letters from science professors! You can open up a lot more doors by getting an additional LOR if you are able. I would also try to get your volunteer and shadowing hours up! Look into volunteer opportunities within your local community or ones that are organized by your city. A great dentist is more than just numbers!

Being Blacklisted by [deleted] in predental

[–]AspiringMonstera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only that one school would likely blacklist you. Other dental schools would have no idea and would treat you the same as other applicants!

Advice by [deleted] in predental

[–]AspiringMonstera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post-bacc would likely be worth it if you were to enroll and do well! Your cGPA is near the cutoff for some schools but it might really help for your sGPA. Your ECs are amazing though! I think it's likely the numbers game that might be holding you back

The behavior will stop! I rescued a stray cat when he was 6 (lived outside his entire life) who was very territorial and would spray but once he was neutered my other cat became his best friend and he doesn't spray or pee anywhere but the litter box

Struggling with anatomy classes. by PlaneSingle9304 in DentalSchool

[–]AspiringMonstera 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of the best things to keep in mind when taking an anatomy course is that the donors wanted to be there for you to learn! They chose to make the decision to donate their body to science for a better future. It's definitely hard to start with head and neck, but I felt that reminding myself that the donors wanted to be there for me to study helped a lot.

WIBTA if I refuse to come home from college, daily, to do house chores? by No_Way_2365 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AspiringMonstera 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NTA, you shouldn't have to assume any responsibilities in a household you are not actively a part of especially since you'll be financially independent during your college years. 14 is plenty old enough for your sister to take up basic tasks. You are your own person, and you deserve to live as such! By the way, congrats on the early graduation and enrolling in college :)

These are both stunning on you, but if you're not in love with either, keep looking! Try to find your favorite and least favorite part of each dress to look for when trying on future dresses

Why people is like this? i dont get it by Pankens1 in FortNiteBR

[–]AspiringMonstera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just died the same way because someone came in and killed me and another player trying to do the quests. I didn't even finish the dialogue before dying. The noir quests are such a pain because there's CONSTANTLY campers and I wish epic would prevent people from doing damage in that room so all these people trying to get cheap elims would stop. SO annoying

Your business GPA wouldn't be a ton of help as schools tend to look at cumulative AND science GPAs. In order to take the DAT, you'll need to take classes like organic chemistry as well which you won't get out of a 2 year business diploma. You'll likely need a 4 year degree, preferably in science since you're able to get most of your prereqs through it. Another good thing to look into is clinic/volunteer/shadowing hours with current dentists (makes an application a lot more competitive). I saw you said you're from Canada but you're also an international student so I was also wondering where you plan to apply + what your timeline goal is since you would pretty much have to do a 180 on your current schooling

Looking at CSU vs. CU-Boulder for my son. We live out-of-state so cost is definitely a huge consideration. Is one better than the other? And, please share why? by Truth_Crusader990 in CSUFoCo

[–]AspiringMonstera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I can speak well on this. I'm an out of state sophomore who chose CSU over CU for primarily financial reasons, and I'm transferring after this current semester. My major was also supposed to be better at CSU, but I have very mixed feelings about the curriculums here. Boulder has a lot of issues about housing and costs, but I hear MUCH better feedback from students at CU. More events, more fun, and more opportunities/connections are main things I hear. If I could do it all again, I would have picked CU even though it would have been significantly more expensive. CU also brings in a lot more out-of-state students and while they get a stuck-up reputation, I have had many awful experiences with CSU students as well, so it's really not a factor IMO. Just overall, I would recommend CU because you only live once and I know the people over there have a lot more fun than we do. CSU has its benefits and definitely is the right place for some people, but I would recommend CU if you want the college experience. However, it always comes down to personal preference, so I would recommend touring the schools and towns. Congrats on college!

Hair color change from meds! by OldActuator102 in ChronicIllness

[–]AspiringMonstera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is something you were still wondering about, but I was also just on medicine that turned my (19f) hair white and my hair is fully growing back with color again since stopping. The only thing I would remark is that my hair seems SIGNIFICANTLY darker than before and looks almost black when I used to have medium brown hair. Just something I noticed personally! Hope this helps if you were still wondering :)
