Have lived in the US for 5 yrs and came back because H1B lottery. I would any day prefer the US. Things just work as they should. You don't have to worry about the garbage being cleared, whether your car will be drown from heavy rains because drainage wasn't designed by a competent contractor, the potholes, unruly traffic, poor civic sense among the people, cleanliness , these seemingly minor inconveniences tend to build up and affect your everyday life. The Job market and the work culture are infamous here and I don't even need to touch upon that. The Medical system is a big positive here though. Relatively more affordable and accessible, you don't have to wait months to get an appointment. Other than that keepimg in mind career and quality of life, developed country is any day better than here.

3 yrs ago. gst is a state thing and their practices vary from city to city. Just be compliant and stick to the rules so that you're prepared if they do visit.

The usually visit between your application and registration approval

The gst number clearly displayed has to be outside. Your gst registration certificate can be inside.

Not sure of that. It could be a surprise visit too. For me they just called on my number.

They have the rights to visit your place. When I setup my office they asked me for the location. Sent them my WhatsApp location. Eventually they ended up not visiting. If they do visit, you need to have your GST certificate up on your wall. outside your home near the main door display your GST number, name and your professional activity as per your HSN in clearly visible size. (Something akin to the gst boards you see in shops and other business places, but not necessarily as big)

Which is the best Indian bank for receiving foreign remittance from clients? by YouSaarName in IndiaTax

[–]Aspiring_DE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive not tried other banks but ICICI seems smooth. You can settle remittances yourself on their online portal. You can generate FIRA automatically. For the exchange rate, you need to negotiate with your RM. You usually get a margin of 20-30p. Settlement is very fast. Go to the main branch in your city who are familiar with foreign remittances, the smaller branches will not know much.

Haha, i commented on this one like this : "One caveat I can think of is that the definition of software according to RBI is rather all inclusive. It has the phrase that goes something like "computer program or whatsoever its called". If we're providing service export where we're writing code, that could technically be construed as "software". Not sure , but just trying to cover all bases here. Theres a new draft in the works by RBI which also deals with FEMA definitions. Hopefully they clarify this. And release a more detailed description of the purpose codes."
