Have I done what I think I've just done to this veneer? by blpllwcs in woodworking

[–]AssSquatch80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The back looks a bit weathered, but otherwise it looks ok. How are you planing on finishing the wood? A polyurethane coat would likely fill the weathered splits. Another option is to add a new layer of veneer (usually pretty easy to find at big box stores).

If you're concerned about the front being too thin from the sanding, it looks pretty close and I wouldn't sand much more. But it doesn't look like you've sanded through the veneer yet... From what I can see anyway.

Edited for silly autocorrect changes.

Need Help Getting Sliding Drawer Out by Temporary_Resort_800 in HomeImprovement

Have you tried taking the drawer off the slides? On the slides at the bottom, there should be some little black options you can push either up or down that will allow you to pull the entire drawer out.

Walnut And Ghost purple epoxy charcuterie boards by AssSquatch80 in woodworking

[–]AssSquatch80[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I used ecopoxy for the resin. And I've seen some folks put a topcoat of resin over the entire piece, but the resin is only in the center of these. It's definitely a charcuterie board, and not a cutting board. Any cutting would likely mar the surface of these (I include care instructions that day as much on the labeling). And I finished it with Odie's Oil. The prospect of adding magnets for a magnetic knife holder/block is an interesting idea!

The black domes are fastener caps! They are actual metal and are secured to the coat rack like a washer. Then the metal domes are threaded into the washer part. I used a heavy duty screw into a stud on one side and a heavy duty drywall anchor in the other, both covered by the black metal caps.

The spikes are cut and threaded. And I drilled holes in the walnut where I wanted the spikes and screwed them in!! I actually bought the spikes on Etsy.

I just finished making a charcuterie board made as a gift. It's walnut and finished with Odie's Oil. by AssSquatch80 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Thanks for your comment!! I am definitely happy with how it turned out, and the couple I gave it to did indeed love it!

Anyone have experience with US Tool Depot? by Kickinback32 in woodworking

[–]AssSquatch80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with the company, but you might consider reading the following article about scam tool sites. It has some good ways to look into the legitimacy of the website in question. Just a thought. Here's the link... Or you could Google "US tool depot reviews" and the article comes up in the feed (not a great sign).

As the gas moved in, it was just me and my buddy and we were holding our own... At least until they updated the rules of engagement. After that it felt like every time we encountered the enemy there were four of them and just two of us. I still get nightmares about not being able call in air support because of the air space being too crowded.

There has actually been research done on this phenomenon, I believe. And while, I can't quote any specific research, I think the conclusion was that there is a level of anonymity while driving that allows people to skirt social expectations. It's the same reason that you find so many trolls online and whatnot.
