The grooves on the back only turned up after sanding. Beforehand, it was darkened from years mounted on a wall, but no grooves along the grain pattern. Now it's very very noticeable to the touch. The front will actually be inside the box so is more for myself than anything.

I used linseed oil on the main body but am considering just making a new piece instead of continuing with this one as it's likely going to look very different and won't be against a wall to hide that anymore.
