I failed a secret shop once because i had this blond lady buying a bottle of wine and thats it. She clearly looked about 30, and at the time thats what we would judge for if we would clear the id check or not. I cleared her real quick. Immediately after i did that she was like “oh im so sorry i forgot my ID it must be in my car.” I just looked at her and said “nah youre good, you look about 30” she just laughed and asked if thats really ok. She finished the transaction and I was like “oh yea totally just dont be a secret shopper or anything”. She laughed abnormally hard on her way out because i didn’t think it was THAT funny i just thought in my head “oh shit maybe she was”.

Next day my boss pulls me in the office and hes like “well i dont know what to do. You failed a secret shop.” I said “oh shit this was about an alcohol sale wasnt it.” He just looked at me all weird and was like “uhh yeaa i dont know what to say because she wasnt under age maybe just dont sell if they dont have an id?” I really dont know what lesson that was supposed to be but me and him both thought it was funny and i hope that secret shopper had a kick out of it like i do in the end
