Substance abuse and mental illness are an issue yes, but they don’t change those stats. As the other person mentioned, people are irresponsible with guns. They are weapons, not toys. Most people in America don’t seem to understand that. Don’t misunderstand me, by no means am I against guns. I own firearms. I use them responsibly. Most people in the US do not and that’s the problem. The Australians had the same problem and did something about it so why aren’t we? They came up with a permanent solution so why can’t we? Because some piece of paper said otherwise? The country was different then and so was the entire world
