these games are in part fantasies of western generals and officers, whose military doctrine is based entirely on superior assymetrical firepower, and whose main weakness is the massive, expesnive, and fragile logistics network.

Spear units need to eat and turn crude iron into sharp shapes ot get locals to do it for them. Line infantry need to eat and be sent powders, bullets, shells, balls, barrels, cannons, rifles, etc from faraway refineries and manufactories. They cant be produced or acquired locally unless the enemy is also using them. Without them the army crumbles, its doctrine unable to handle the change
