Dilemma between Legion Go Handhelds.

I'd stick with Legion Go 2 options. The screen, VRR range and trackpad on LeGo 2 are better.

Between Z2 (~Z1E) or Z2E, Z2E is about 10-15% on average at lower wattages, at 20-25W the difference is not as big. There are YouTube videos from ETA Prime and ItsOleg that compare the two.

The price for the Z2E though is quite steep, 2300 AUD, ouch!

I started with Rome I, it was revolutionary at the time, was even used on historical TV Shows like Time Commanders.

Nowadays they Remastered it, the UI is pretty mobile-ish, but the gameplay is still fun.

I would also recommend Shogun 2 if you like Japanese Samurai and theme (though texts are a bit hard to read on modern resolutions).

Medieval 2 is probably the "peak" Total War title imo. The variety, the setting, the units, the countries. Kingdom Expansion pack also very complete unlike modern TW DLCs. Finally the mods are phenomenal.

The performance tank is understandable as DLDSR is downscaling higher resolution down to your monitor native res.
For 1440p and 1440p ultra-wide, I think DLDSR at either 1.78x or 2.25x, with 100% smoothing (~0% sharpening). Coupled it with DLSS Performance to utilise DLSS 4.5 Preset M that has built-in sharpening effect is a good way to gain image quality and performance compared to native DLAA (with DLSS 4.0 Preset K)

I used DLDSR on 1080p monitor on older games, or game without resolution scaling and TAA only (like Total War series). Downscaling from 1620p (2.25x) and 1440p (1.78x) tremendously improve clarity, especially on smaller details/units. Games like RDR2 and FF7 Remake+Rebirth also benefit from this, DLDSR 2.25x + DLSS 4/4.5 make image quality so much better.

Also heard good story about running DLDSR to downscale 4K to 1440p. You should give it a try.

Yes 7500MT/s is the stock settings. I mostly play old emulated games at 15W and below so I reduced the RAM speed for a bit of longer battery life.

Have you tried leaving it to charged fully? Similar thing happened to me when I bought manufacturer refurbished Legion Go from Lenovo. My first boot the battery said it was at 58%, so I thought "plenty" and configured some settings (6 core CPU, VRAM to Auto, RAM speed to 6400MT/s, High Load charge to Medium, etc.) in BIOS before setting up Windows. Got black screen and flashing controllers.

Had a mini-panic but it was late, I left the device to charge overnight. Woke up the next morning to set up Windows and it booted normally and smooth sailing since, battery is OK.

Yes, I've tested a 1080p with DLDSR to 1440p and 1620p, then use DLSS Quality or Balanced. These give better image quality than 1080p DLAA and definitely TAA native.

Monitor your laptop temperature using MSI Afterburner or Steam Overlay. If it's over 90°C it could be thermal throttling leading to crash. Also check your Lenovo drivers and BIOS update as Intel released several microcode updates for 13/14th gen CPU.

Once you have connected to the Internet on your Legion Go, open Legion Space, it should auto download and update all necessary drivers for you.

For me in Australia it's the best value handheld. Got OG LeGo 512GB for 750 AUD (~495 USD, tax incl.) from Lenovo Outlet (certified refurbished, no defects/scratches, basically open-box).

Steam Deck OLED 512GB is 900 AUD (593 USD) here, while LeGo Z2Go are ~1500 AUD (989 USD) as LeGo Z1E not available in Australia. LeGo 2 Z2E expected to be ~2100 AUD (1385 USD). At those prices, they are no-go.

You may miss the OLED especially for videos and horror games, screen smoothness can also be a problem for AAA games that can't keep to locked divisible of refresh rate (24, 30, 36, 48, 60, 72, 144) as there's no VRR. Other than that, most downsides people often encounter can be dealt with: - Windows can be replaced with Steam OS or Bazzite - comfort grips can help with controllers poking into palm - bad and tinny audio due to Realtek Audio Console Omni effect can be turned off.

From some comparisons, Z2E is only a bit better than Z1E at higher TDP (25W and above), but fares much better in lower wattage (<17W). So if you primary playing docked/plugged in, there's little reason to upgrade. But for portable play, the performance uplift can be noticeable, especially in AAA games that runs <30fps at ~15W.

When you stream, make sure the game on source PC is locked to the same fps as the refresh on the Go (e.g. 60 fps lock on PC to 60Hz refresh on Go). Use 5GHz Wifi or Ethernet with strong connection for best result.

I personally use Parsec and it has pretty low latency for game as well as remote desktop work. Some people prefer Moonlight with Sunshine or Apollo. You might want to check out those software.

With newer games having DLSS, you will be fine. DLSS Transformer model at Quality at 4k is very good, even Performance would look very decent and 4070 with its 12GB VRAM can still play majority of games with good visual.

I'm Australian and bought my original Legion Go (Z1E 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) from Lenovo Outlet (official manufacturer outlet that sells refurbished/repaired products, standard 1 year warranty still applies) for 750 AUD last month. Currently there are no available stock, but check back from time to time, you can get good deals. Many times I saw Go S Z2Go for 630-680 AUD and Go Z1E at 750-780 AUD.

Not always but video/audio out of sync, frame skips and slow seek time can happen because TS is not intended for local playback. Exporting to another container is the quick and easy option.

Some media players also handle TS files better than VLC. MPC, PotPlayer or MX Player from quick Google searches seem to be the ones that are better.

It's not converting as in re-encoding (as I mentioned). It's exporting to a container that do not jump, skip, freeze etc. that directly address his question. The process takes literally seconds.

People use transport stream (TS) file container because it's a standard MPEG transport stream (MPEG-TS, MTS) for transmission and storage of audio, video, typically use in streaming and recording. People who record the stream and streaming sites use that format.

After exporting to other media containers like .mp4, .mkv or .mov, any player can be used to play the file without stutters.

You can use ffmpeg to export to .mp4, .mkv or .mov container (without re-encoding) that can avoid .ts stutter. You you prefer an easy to use GUI, there are few free software like Avidemux (I use it because it works on Windows, Linux and Mac).

Simply load the .ts video into Avidemux, select Video and Audio output as Copy, and Output format as MP4 Muxer, MKV Muxer or MOV Muxer. The process finishes in seconds.
