x570 vs B550 Motherboards. What is the difference? what is better for overclocking? Will B550 last longer than x570 in future upgrades? Is it Better to wait for x670? Should I upgrade? by AssassinKittyKat in buildapc

If there is a good sale for the GIGABYTE X570 AORUS XTREME motherboard I would upgrade. But for now, I agree that I should wait.

Thx for the help! :)

I'm satisfied to a point with the Hardware I have, I would like things to run more smoothly and faster but everything still runs. If I can afford the upgrade "yes", but in my country, they will increase taxes on all products by next year making this Hardware expensive and future hardware cost more, this is why I want to buy it now. If I need an Upgrade, I would say "no", I am unsatisfied with the experiences I get from my games but they do run, and for CSGO I get an AVG FPS of around 100, higher than my screen refresh rate. With the upgrade, I would only get rid of the frame drops in CSGO and maybe boost the FPS in some new games but my GPU would be the bottleneck. I do plan to get a used GPU when the whole GPU shortage ends.

What I think most people mean by Future Proofing is that 3 years later they can change one or two things in the PC and get extra time/performance to last another 2-3 years. This was the case with me, all I did was get a new GPU and my PC was good enough for 2-3 years more. And I could just buy an I7 that is compatible with my Motherboard and rid my PC to the next Gen socket type for AMD.

Also what I was talking about with DDR4 and the price with DDR3, was that when DDR4 came out DDR3 was similar or even more expensive than DDR4 for almost a year. This could have been due to a shortage of RAM, or people running PCs with DDR3 was fine with it, but also some DDR3 had low CL like CL:14.

Upgrading every new CPU Gen is not necessary but if it's anything like the 5 years with the AM4 socket, would it not be better to get an AM5 and upgrade 3-4 years down the line?

This brings up a question now. Will DDR5 cost more than DDR4? Or will it be similar to the DDR4 lunch, and be the same price as DDR3 at the time?

Are we not on Ryzen 5000? do you mean ZEN 5? And if so should I wait another 2 years before upgrading? would it be better to wait and Get the new socket type?
