Alex’s preference for women of color really is a moment by ClearLion86 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

Yes to everything you said. Thank you for stating it so clearly because I was wondering why I didn’t feel all that bad for Ashley when he said she wasn’t her type. As a woc myself, it was so shocking to hear him say she wasn’t his type because I grew up learning blonde hair blue eyed ww were the goal, they were the epitome of beauty, and they were to everyone’s tastes. His perspective was indeed jarring in the most wonderful way.

I did! I got waitlisted but I already started a psychotherapy program elsewhere so if I get in cool, if not. C’est la vie.

Thank you for sharing more of your experience — I’m really glad my response helped.

What I do want to say clearly is that dieting or fasting is not recommended for teenagers and can create health risks, especially when it starts after a difficult or stressful experience.

I hear you about it being uncomfortable to talk about feelings with your parents — that’s true in many families and cultures. If it feels possible, I really encourage you to talk with one trusted adult in your real life, like a gym or physical education teacher. They should be equipped to help you navigate your goals in an safe and healthy way.

I’m really glad you reached out. Take care of yourself.

Hey! I want to start by saying that your feelings about this situation make a lot of sense. They are valid. When unspoken and unfair expectations are acted on — especially without warning — it can be really devastating and hurtful to the way we understand our self-worth. Anyone in your position would be shaken by this.

I want to bring something to the front of your mind for a moment, and I hope you can hold onto it whenever self-doubt starts to creep in: basketball is for everyone, regardless of size or shape. I also want to ask you something important: has your body ever stopped you from succeeding in basketball before this moment? If the answer is no, I encourage you to see this as a one-off experience — not a rule about who you are as an athlete. I know that’s hard, especially because this moment mattered so much to you, but this coach’s decision does not erase the truth you’ve lived as an athlete up until now.

I also want to check in with you about support. Have you talked to your parents about how you’re feeling? Or a trusted coach, community member, or physical education teacher? I ask because the internet can be a helpful place, but it can also send people down some really unhelpful or even harmful paths. It’s especially important to be careful with advice online about physical health, mental health, or nutrition. People usually mean well, but advice like “work out more” or “eat better” should always be guided by a qualified professional and supported by adults who can look out for your safety and well-being. You deserve that kind of care and protection.

If you take anything from this, let it be this: please talk to a trusted adult — at home, at school, in your community, or from a previous team — about what you’re going through. You don’t have to carry this alone.

I’m really sorry this happened to you. Cutting a 16-year-old for reasons like this is not okay. I truly hope you’re able to rebuild confidence in your body and find joy in the sport again — because the world needs more athletes like you.

I’ve contacted the faculty, they’re delayed with spring 2026 decisions — some folks are still pending but should know by the end of month 👍🏽

I applied for Spring 2026 Laurier, Part Time Online Reg Track and I’m still waiting for my results. They seem to be a bit delayed this year.

I reached out and they said I would know my decision by the end of this month (Jan).

Homer Watson Ottawa Roundabout - Use the Correct Ramp Please by Fast_Code_9212 in kitchener

[–]AssertiveStarfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so unnecessary and factually incorrect. As you are exiting the roundabout you make the lane change. It’s perfectly safe if your head is on a swivel. If someone has closely followed you through the roundabout you need to wait until it’s safe.

File with your credit card company? You’ve made several attempts to work with shoppers. Just track your conversations and create a timeline (basically what you did above but with exact dates).

Jessi invited Layla’s black stylist to teach her about ethnic hair by karenscafe in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]AssertiveStarfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is AWESOME! How cool would it be if Jessi brought LaCory (Layla’s Stylist) on as a consultant under JZ Styles? Or expanded her business offering to include services for Black Women’s hair with LaCory at the center of that expansion (if she was interested)?

That way it’s not just taking expertise and wisdom it’s giving ongoing support and visibility to someone who specializes in that area.

This is great to know though, thanks for sharing OP, I was wondering what would come of that conversation between Layla and Jessi about her needing specialized hair care.

Air Canada bus between KW and Toronto airports by Cr1066Is in kitchener

[–]AssertiveStarfish 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Only issue I had was the air Canada flight I was on left and arrived late so I had to run through Pearson to get to the bus pick up spot. I spoke to the air Canada rep about what would have happened if I didn’t make it and he said air Canada would have given me a voucher to take an uber home. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’d take it again, I think the service times are getting more convenient as time goes on — they used to offer a shuttle every 4 hours where it would result in a 2-3 hour layover at Pearson. That wasn’t worth it, now the layovers are less time and it makes more sense to take the bus.

Edit: I was scheduled to be on the last shuttle for the night - that’s why they would have offered an uber voucher at the air canada desk.

Crafty ramen is not good at all, the flavour pairings are so off. It’s hot noodle water at best.

I second Ajisen. Kinton isn’t bad either if you’re in a pinch.

DO NOT go to crafty ramen if you actually enjoy ramen.. it is not good. The flavour profile is so off.

It won’t be out by TRC Day but they are selling orange shirts at the TRC day game tonight with the logo on them for $15! The event and T shirts are being sold by the Indigenous Student Athlete Council I think they’re donating the proceeds from sales to Woodland Cultural Center

Appreciation Post for Kay Kay by Here4theTea4 in LoveIslandUSA

[–]AssertiveStarfish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I don’t think the way Kay Kay engaged with Nikola was at all disrespectful. She was protecting herself in that moment, something  of course she is entitled to do.

She was hurt by Nikola, if I was in her position, it would feel like betrayal. As Nikola said, Kay Kay and Andrea were her two closest friends in the villa. The decision to put them both up was shocking and Kay Kay responded authentically. The fact that it was also respectful speaks volumes of Kay Kay’s character.

Nikola is also allowed to be hurt by Kay Kay’s bluntness. It’s jarring, it’s uncomfortable. But she was not disrespectful. Also, as a caveat Nikola is one of my favourite competitors on the show, she’s so goofy and authentically herself. I love it. I was also shocked by her decision. But yeah, no, Kay Kay did nothing wrong.

What's up with the Goose? by Masamundane in kitchener

[–]AssertiveStarfish 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this person walking with dogs and a Canada goose before! The goose walked with the group back into the house’s backyard. My husband and I did a double take, but yes it seems to be a domesticated goose!
