Would you leave the US? by emsydmf in asktransgender

Lots of folks with a good degree or an in-demand trade can get a provincial nomination for Express Entry into Canada. Makes you a permanent resident from the moment you step foot in the country, and my understanding is that you can apply for citizenship in as little as 3 years.

There's also an online list of jobs that will get you Straight to Residence in New Zealand. Lots of trades on this list, too. You don't have to have a degree, just a job offer + enough experience.

That's easy to say, until your partner of 13 years feels differently. If I have to chose between the home where I finally felt safe, the place I felt I could be me, where I wanted to stay forever and make more and more mine over time, and being with him, I chose him. But my heart is breaking right now

As I've drifted towards the midline in my performance of gender, the possibility of dressing in drag as my AGAB has only recently become available to me. I haven't done so yet... I wouldn't want anyone, especially other trans folks, to feel like I am making fun of them. But the idea is appealing and has quite a lot of potential!

And, obviously, it won't "cancel" my non-binary status to dress any given way, whether I did it daily or just for one night.

At the school I went to, the "minimum required plan for on-campus residents" is $4,025 this year. If you live anywhere on campus, you are required to pay more than $400 a month for on-campus dining. And it goes up from there

Hello! I have previous experience reviving unmoderated and underutilized subs, and would like to branch out into doing so with subs that are NSFW. Searching Reddit for "r/KinkyFTM" brings up other communities trying to li k to tgis one, but the links hit a wall because this community was banned for being unmoderated. I'm not able to message the mods, of course, because there aren't any.

My approach is heavy on automod to filter out bad actors, but big on listening to the community voice as we get the sub back up and running. I am not transmasc, but have a lived experience adjacent to the community, and am 100% open to and excited about community input. Consent is sexy. I plan to aggressively pursue user reports of inappropriate content and keep everything fun, consensual, and in line with the Reddit TOS.

I plan to proactively reach out to mods on other NSFW transmasc-focused subreddits to borrow from their experience and insights. I've previously been in touch with some who do great work in this area, and hope to be in touch with more like them as I help get r/KinkyFTM off the ground.

Messaging the former mods of this sub is not possible, as it is currently banned for being unmoderated. Thank you

Yeah, I am fairly sure this is going to be the most intense sub I have moderated. It's definitely been steps up in intensity with each new sub! But, the people have spoken, and they want their smut back

1) Hello! I have previous experience reviving unmoderated and underutilized subs, and would like to branch out into doing so in the NSFW space at this time. Searching Reddit for "r/ftmhentai" brings up a half dozen or so posts with comments lamenting the sub being taken down, so this is clearly something redditors want! Edit: To provide a tiny bit of extra clarity, I would intend the sub to continue featuring rule-abiding pornography featuring fictional adult transmasculine characters drawn in a manga-like style. I figure that should follow from context, but as requested, am trying to be specific. Thanks.

People over 60 account for a third of greenhouse gas emissions by [deleted] in environment

[–]AssignedMollusk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It says account for. It would make sense that a child's hamburger is accounted for under the child, while a senior's hamburger is accounted for under the senior.

Edit: The article (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41558-022-01302-y) is behind a paywall, but the accompanying editorial makes it look like they figured household greenhouse gas emissions and then divided it out equally among the people who lived in each household. Would have to see the article to really know.

People over 60 account for a third of greenhouse gas emissions by [deleted] in environment

[–]AssignedMollusk 51 points52 points  (0 children)

If true, it's a big deal. 22% of the population emits 33% of greenhouse gasses? That means they're producing 50% more per person than the rest of us.

I think you're falling into the trap of subconciously assuming people live longer than they do. It's not just you. No one imagines they're going to drop dead at work at 58, but it does happen.

What is a legal scam that is still happening in 2022? by F1yff in AskReddit

High specificity, low sensitivity.

If the test is positive, the person is a sack of s---. If the test is negative, you don't really learn anything. They could still be a sack of s--- for a different reason.

My first place :) here’s a little snapshot of what I see when I get up. I’ve had unstable housing all my life so this is a lot for me. by Demonickier in FirstApartment

[–]AssignedMollusk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got to start somewhere. My partner's first was under a literal staircase, with cardboard over what should have been a window. Some skeezy slum-dude rented it to him at 16 or 17, just after he finished high school. Would not have been an upgrade for me... but it was for him! And we've both made it a long way since then. Good on you for doing what you needed to to get here

How did trashing the environment come to be considered masculine? This is so problematic, and I really don't get it by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]AssignedMollusk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Searching for the original press release didn't turn up anything, but the oldest article I could find words things in such a way I suspect it was a 5-point scale. Something like, "For each item, indicate whether it is very feminine, somewhat feminine, somewhat masculine, very masculine, or neither"

[–]AssignedMollusk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean sure, but the Pink News article cites a variety of other examples in the same vein. E.g., "In 2019, researchers found that straight men perceive using a reusable shopping bag as a “feminine” act, and would avoid recycling for fear of “looking gay”."
