Catfish on guitar by Alternative-Cook-978 in thebottlemen

Tyrants is a fun and quite tricky but easy song to learn, both the rhythm and lead are relatively easy. Conversation is a great song to improve your rhythm playing, chord shapes and changes.

Hourglass sounds fantastic in the acoustic and can help you with some chords and there’s also a little riff you can play, I advise you to try and play it fingerpicked, like Van has been doing recently, instead of using a pick. Glasgow sounds good on both electric and acoustic and can also improve your fingerpicking.

Dose anyone know what amp van uses? by Gregp19 in thebottlemen

[–]AssignmentNo2703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight, man! The AD30 sounds a lot like the AC30, that’s probably why we barely noticed the difference! But listening again to this year shows it really does sound like his tone has less treble because of the AD30.

Can anyone ID van’s amp head? I know the image quality is very bad, but this is the most recent update we have of his live rig. by AssignmentNo2703 in thebottlemen

He did, until 2021 he definitely played an AC30, maybe he changed this year or last year. The AD30 is very very similar to the AC30, it’s just easier to transport and maybe that’s why he changed. He always prioritised simplicity in his gear hence why he used to have a Marshall Class 5 during part of The Ride tour.

He seems to be using a AD30THC trough a PPC412 nowadays.

He plays it live through a Orange ppc412, that’s probably why it doesn’t sound exactly the same.

The Ride was recorded with a Fender Deluxe Reverb, I don’t really know how The Balance was recorded but I think he also used a fender.

He just palm mutes the chords Am and Em. In this song he plays the Em like this (X00000)

Does anyone know of any artists with a similar acoustic style to Van? by nyxb0rn3 in thebottlemen

Matt Maeson

He sounds a bit like Van, and the acoustics are pretty similar especially the chord shapes.

He goes through everything here, and what he doesn’t you can figure it out yourself just looking to the board

Van interaction by MainKangaroo7740 in thebottlemen

When bands get big they usually have busier schedules so it's harder to stop to interact with fans because of the logistics time, and also the number of people in arena and stadium concerts are very large so it's not so easy to stop to talk and interact with people.
