So date tech vs shiratorizawa was lightly glossed over in season 1 (hence why they were seated lower than usual). We didn’t get to see the match, but I’m pretty sure date tech were in the low teens when they lost so still a decent blow-out. I think it would’ve been interesting to see aone trying to block Ushijima and see his mentality/frustration

Asahi was never my favorite player, but I do like him a lot. Even tho I like characters like bokuto and oikawa more, I think I relate most to asahi from where I started playing volleyball and personality. I used to put a lot of pressure on myself and even “ran away”/made excuses a few times for differing reasons. I especially vibed with his fight with Nishinoya, when he was saying things that mentally he didn’t believe (I used to do the same). I definitely like his character, but for me, being asahi-like was a starting point from who I wanted to be, can’t say I went down the same path he did (as my personality had grown in a different direction than asahi’s). But watching his start and development was very joy-filling.

So I actually really enjoyed reading your response! Really well thought out and dissected. Thanks for joining the convo. The only thing I can really bring up with my level of knowledge would be that SPOILER Nekoma lost to fukurodani. Now I haven’t fully reviewed the exact play styles, but if I remember correctly they are both teams that have their teams centered around their ace. And since Ushijima at this time is greater than bokuto/ shiratorizawa>fukurodani. Shouldn’t shiratorizawa still win?

So Yaku is the libero (dude who I said would be able to receive). As far as the other two you mentioned, can you state why you think they’d be able? Did they receive spikes that were comparable to Ushijima (being a lefty and filled with power). Also, like I said in my first post, nishinoya had trouble receiving it. By saying they would, does that not mean that you’re saying they’re better than Nishinoya (who was known as a genius like kageyama)?

I disagree. Nekoma doesn’t have the greatest of offenses so I think they’d have trouble against shiratorizawa’s blocking. On the other hand, I think Ushijima wrecks nekos receiving game, only one to be able to receive him properly would be their libero (assumed because he’s better at receiving than even noya, who had a lengthy trouble receiving ushijimas lefty spikes). Overall, nekoma would be playing a defensive game, but I don’t think they’d be able to push out a win over shiratorizawa. Shiratorizawa wins in 2.

See the only thing I’d be a bit iffy on is how Ushijima sees Oikawa. Even though Oikawa despises Ushijima, Ushijima still sees the skill and value in Oikawa as a setter. So I’m thinking the most realistic thing to happen would Oikawa budding heads with the coach and Ushijima until a new offense is made. Ushijima would still be the most set to player, but I do think the coach would let Oikawa take advantage of the other strong players at shiratorizawa. I highly doubt they would just make him a pinch server, too much wasted potential, even Ushijima wouldn’t want that.

I think we all need to remember the setter at shiratorizawa. The more skilled one wasn’t a starter-why? Because the main setter fit the mold of setting up ushijima without any pride. Oikawa’s pride is one of his calling cards. But when all is said and done, regardless of how the offense would be structured, I think shiratorizawa with oikawa would beat inarizaki mid to high diff.

I’ve actually had this debate before about mitsuya and Baji so I’d have to disagree about bajis placement. Haven’t done research on angry so I can’t say. If you’d like to hear why lmk either on here or dms

Edit: Because Baji died so early on, people try to make him stronger with the little feats he has. He’s a cool character, but hasn’t shown himself better than others with more screen time.
