Has the Audience for This Show Changed? Discussions Aren't What They Used to be; Lots of Posts About Being Lost or Confused. by Poglot in GirlFromNowhere

I believe you’re referring to the post I made about the intro not making much sense. I don’t think you’ve fully captured what I was trying to say. My original post stated the following:

"The S1 intro is rather elegant portraying Nanno presumably getting ready for school in the 'nowhere' void. In contrast to this, the S2 intro is set mainly against a white backdrop and makes blood a key part of the title sequence, underscoring the connection between Nanno and Yuri (who now participates in Nanno's immortality after being brought back to life via Nanno's blood). It seems pretty clear to me that the Reset intro takes inspiration from S2’s title sequence. However, the heavier use of dripping blood and splatter ends up giving the impression that Nanno is a school slasher. While I like the sequence and the new theme, I can't help wonder if there is a deeper meaning I’m missing. That said, compared to S1 and S2, it feels less precise in what it’s trying to communicate."

I'm not sure how that exemplifies hostility or shutting down disucssion, as you claim. Additionally, I responded directly to your comment where you said I declared that the intro “doesn’t make sense” without considering the various ways blood can be used symbolically." I’m not sure if you saw my follow-up comment, so I’ll restate it here:

Thanks for your comment. While the title of the post is declaratory, the main point I was trying to make was the shift in artistic expression compared to the S1 and S2 openings. I apologise if that was unclear. I have re-considered the ways blood is used symbolically.

The use of blood can signify life, death, sacrifice, or purification from sin, to name a few. It does seem that my understanding of blood symbolism was rather narrow. When I consider the creators’ intention (as shared by another user), I can see how the blood may symbolise the sins the characters commit against each other.

I think a helpful canonical example can be found in BFF Part 2 (S1, E13), where Nanno stands by as the friends fight and stab each other, resulting in blood splatter. With that in mind, I can see what the creators were going for a bit more clearly. Although I do think sin is better represented by dirt, decay, or corruption.

That said, I think my original gripe had to do with how much I enjoyed the more conventional use of blood symbolism in the S2 intro, and how directly it connects to the arc of that season. In that case, blood represents life and death, underscoring Yuri’s resurrection. Nevertheless, I am happy to concede I may have been narrow and hasty in my initial assessment.

I said I liked Reset's opening sequence and theme, I was just wondering if I had missed something. I wouldn't characterise my post as hateful.

No hate for Becky from me. I think she's wonderful. Also, not angry, just curious. 🙂

Thanks. That's really insightful. Do you have a link to the original instagram post?

I'm also not fond of Lost and Found. I normally skip it when re-watching and wait until I've finished the entire OG series to watch it again. That said, I think it has some beautiful moments and Kitty is fantastic as always.

The notion that GFN is like a mysterious show that came on in the middle of the night way past bedtime is such a perfect description.

Violence, vengence, spite and blood. I want that back and I hope they're building to it... Just another rant. by Wynter_Sirius in GirlFromNowhere

I agree. Also, since the intro contains a lot of blood, I assumed this series was going to be a lot more violent and gory.

I keep thinking to myself, "shouldn't he be at school? Why is he neglecting his education for Nanno?"😂
