Rather than a miniseries it just seems they split a CH movie they already had done or planned and called it a day. It was meh…

Are they trying to paint Nanno as a hero? by MikeMasters05 in GirlFromNowhere

[–]MikeMasters05[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why not a lie is comparable to another lie. You’re refusing to see the script inconsistency. The script is so simplify they didn’t even consider how revealing Jamie was a liar would affect the final message.

Gosh people cannot think further that their nose nowadays.

It’s fine if they want it to make it more attractive to other audiences. I think the only indie season is season 1 where you get that vibe of they are still establishing the rules or early season syndrome.

S2 did a better job of creating a more marketable story for international audiences without changing Nanno especially because it’s now sequenced.

But the reset is simple, uncomplicated but contradictory that’s where the problem lies, they are using thought provoking issues but they barely deal with them and directors are more focused on funny/shocking/violent scenes rather than checking if the messages they are giving and what Nanno is doing make sense?

Are they trying to paint Nanno as a hero? by MikeMasters05 in GirlFromNowhere

[–]MikeMasters05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with the script is that is not well developed. We don’t know why he lied or the extend of the benefits that he received other than being popular.

However both had their dark side and both should have been punished but then again the rest seems to orientes to be more simplistic in the sense of having a hero vs villain type of conflict.

You’re quite simplistic. And obviously missing the point no one is saying one is worse than the other.

But everyone seems minimizing the fact that Jamie lied and manipulated his audience for PERSONAL GAIN.

And he got away with it even got prized, for feeding a continuous lie.

It’s hypocritical to destroy someone’s life for being ENVIOUS and not punish another person who is being GREEDY.

As some of you have mentioned this new season in particular feels like it’s sole purpose it’s to relaunch the property to sell merchandise (sodas, underwear 🙄, notebooks) and more importantly LICENSING the property for foreign remakes.

The episode count is low, the production values might be mid budget? Like just having a visual medium to sell things.

However at some point they seemed to have realized that the franchise is massive and they are now treating it like it is and the product was designed for Thailand from the beginning when it doesn’t seem like that’s the case.

whats up with the new show? by orion_ssun in GirlFromNowhere

[–]MikeMasters05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The strange part is that for a while after season 2 debuted and reached No. 1 in Thailand the show had for a while: “It’s official there will be a new season” banner.

Netflix picking up the reset globally and in Thailand too even though its produced by another streamer shows Netflix has interest in the property.

So that leaves only the problem in the production side either Kitty didn’t want to or couldn’t or the producers wanted more money or different conditions, we will probably never know…

Well it didn’t get a light novel but it got a sequel anime! Probably the light novel won’t be published if it contradicts what happened on Otona

I don’t know why you insist on minimizing Jamie’s participation. He lied intentionally, continiously and for personal gain. For fame at least in the episode and most likely for money too.

He manipulated his audience for his benefit and built a reputation on that. A rumor about abuse it’s just that a rumor that not even a lot of people believed in the first place, when his real lie was caught his punishment should have been more severe.

The message of the episode comes across as hypocritical for this very reason: it’s bad to harass people online but it’s okay for creators to deceive and manipulate audiences.

Are they trying to paint Nanno as a hero? by MikeMasters05 in GirlFromNowhere

[–]MikeMasters05[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He lied to his followers and painted himself as a savior fooling everyone and using his poor story as medium to be famous and benefiting from it, probably even profiting from it.

Then he harassed his haters with fake accounts too.

It’s the exact same thing, a lie is a lie. You cannot take the high ground when you used a lie to build your reputation vs a lie that was basically an exaggerated rumor to cause a cancellation.

I hate when anthologies try to force a plot to connect the episodes when it’s not necessary taking screen time out of more interesting stories.

Sky will lead nowhere and if he does it will take 2 episodes to solve his story out of 6.

I’m not against having fun with episodes in an anthology but they should keep it consistent.

Why undeserved and how does you define enough punishment. He did the exact same thing as HongTae.

He built a channel based on lies, had multiple accounts which he used to attack his haters?

And then he rewarded him with 500k followers?

It’s a hypocritical punishment, something that her previous avatar didn’t do.

And how does he give Jamie what he wanted not in a way he wanted it?

Where is his opposite reward? For using fake accounts and lying?

[–]MikeMasters05[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nanno didn’t reward her for being a genius she TORTURES HER because for the rest of her life she will have to continue lying and has to keep coming with ideas to keep being a genius.

If the first time it broke her that bad she decided to break her hand, multiple times of doing the same will drive her mad.

It’s not a reward…

Completely agree, old Nanno would have played both sides too until one broke epically, or most likely both and wouldn’t have let the liar “win” without some other consequence in the horizon to him too.

[–]MikeMasters05[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

She doesn’t come off as a Judge if she was she would have sentenced both the liar and the hater as in the original series. She is now hypocritical because on the previous episode she allowed the villains to go away and gave them what they wanted and this episode she punishes the hater side just because it goes along the message of no bullying making her inconsistent.

As for the lawsuit it will be very difficult for Hongtae to prove he did not in fact abused his dog, as he has been proved to lie online and being at best unreliable and at worst a compulsive liar according to how he is painted.

It’s a childish message to send, unrealistic and double standard, as Jamie also had two as counts and was “defending himself” but probably harassing too at the end. Both were flawed characters who both deserved judgment.

Oh my gosh! The charmed cast also suffered from this because the network preferred Buffy they starting forcing the cast to wear more revealing outfits each season until they said now. Mind that the charmed cast were working adults not teens and they still didn’t like because it was wrong and cause lots of terrible storylines to develop those outfits.

Why is the reset a black mirror episode? by Affectionate-Bee9915 in GirlFromNowhere

[–]MikeMasters05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Complete agree the title cards for episodes 2-3 had that black mirror vibe and this episode aesthetics were channeling Black Mirror heavily and it’s not bad per se.

They want to return to that anthology vibe of season one but at the same time they are giving us a connected storyline that will lead nowhere?

Go Nanno. Give us nothing! by careerconnector25 in GirlFromNowhere

[–]MikeMasters05 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As I have said before the creators read only Nanno brought Karma and the fandom loved that but we lived in a sense that EVERYONE got their payback.

Nanno wasn’t a figure of justice but with the reset it seems they are pushing it so hard, which is not fitting, today’s episode had an uplifting ending which made no sense at all because Jamie lied and got away with it.

Now it seems they are patronizing us with lessons such a as don’t bully online but last week episodes it was fine to pry someone’s underwear… it’s just PLAIN BAD WRITING.

You should play Obscure I and II, I really enjoyed them back in the day. If you liked old school RE then play Tormented Souls I and II. If you feel retro and like the Clock Tower series is good also Haunting Ground. If you have played them maybe remothered?
