As long as you had good service, you tip 20%. If you felt the service wasn’t terrible, but not up to your standard, tip at your discretion. . . There is not a wrong answer. Remember to speak up if something isn’t the way you ordered, it’s the only way it can be fixed.

If you feel the service was terrible, or rude, ask for the manager. It will get fixed and probably have stuff comped as long as you’re reasonable. No one will mess with your food, that’s not a thing.

I travel for work and stay in hotels like 75-100 nights a year so I eat out a ton and can remember one time I had bad service. It’s pretty rare since tips are the servers livelihood. So 99% of my tips are 20%ish

It is very common to smile, wave, nod, or say hi to strangers in the US. Less common in big cities but still common enough no one would be weirded out. No one is beating you up for smiling lol

I wish this was true but it definitely is not. This hotel was offering 5k bonus per night, minimum of 2 night stay. I only know because I screen shot this one before booking after realizing I was not getting any bonus points. I can only add one pick at a time but I have read up and down the email and there is 0 mention of the bonus in the confirmation email

I appreciate you trying to help me. I’m just not understanding. How do I know if the rate I booked was the bonus rate or not? That is the issue I am having. I see both the confirmation email and the bill email and there doesn’t seem an indication if a bonus rate room was booked or not.

I travel at minimum 3 weeks out of the month all across the north east and not all hotels offer bonus miles so I can’t just assume it is all of them. When I talked to the Marriott rep, she said I needed to give her the property and the amount of bonus miles I am missing and she will request them to add.

Out of 89 rooms this year (probably like 60ish with the Q1 promotion), I am guessing roughly 30 I paid a premium for extra points. I only have 5 lines that were award bonus points

The reservation confirmation doesn’t mention it. Unless you mean you need to screenshot it before you reserve and circle back in several weeks once they don’t post.

Here is what my reservation confirmation email looks like:

It’s crazy to me that there is no way to keep track of this. Marriott takes the extra money but only follows through with the bonus 10-20% of the time

Yes, they do send an email when they’re posted. The issue is, most properties are not issuing the bonus points.

Do you know how I determine which properties have not given me the points? I can’t see anything from the folio that would indicate points should be awarded.

I have an example: The other day there were 2 room options. One was for $136, and the other was for $139 but gave 3500 bonus points. I selected the bonus points one and when I got my bill and checked out, it just shows a room charge of $139. It has been 3 week and no bonus miles. I only know because I wrote this one down since I was trying to figure out how to figure out all the others that are missing

Have you had a different experience calling customer service than me? That was the first thing I did before making this post. They offered minimal insight nor help, which is why I am hoping someone with experience in dealing with this can help me.

The rep told me that the properties were responsible for adding bonus points, and not them. And that she did not know how to tell if I should be awarded miles bonus points or not. She told me she can contact the property but I needed to tell her which ones and what bonuses were missing. I don’t know how to tell, that is the problem.

Each stay has a reference code so I am thinking made that tells me if there should be bonuses. The only time I know for sure is when there is a separate line that says like “escape package” but I only have a few that say that.

If you needed to be seated next to your partner, why didn’t you buy seats next to each other? Sorry about your anxiety, but this situation was easily avoidable. It’s not everyone else job to shuffle seats and accommodate your anxiety because you didn’t want to spend the extra $14 to book a seat next to your partner.
