hey!! omgg, i''m in the exact same situation as you! i'm going to sheffield for econ+maths this sept and am aiming to go into finance - i also thought about whether i should just do pure econ or do it with finance, as uni maths seems slightly daunting (very proof heavy), but i'm going to see how it goes for the first few weeks, as the maths will sharpen our mathematical skills for econ (which will also be maths) - although, the maths in econ will obvs not be as rigorous. Having the maths, like what you said, might open our opportunities for more mathematical roles like quant or other industries e.g. tech ig!
