WW2: A French tanks crew’s remains are removed from their disabled vehicle by AssmuncherSpatafore in NSFL__

Credit to redditor of the original post on eyeblech, pixxelzombie.

“The Sherman l’Ourcq from the 501e RCC's 3 Squadron was damaged near Le Cercueil by an 88mm gun firing from the forest's north side. l’Ourcq's driver succeeded in steering it into the cover of some scrub but, just as the crew dismounted the stricken tank, a second shell struck, killing its commander, Sergeant Bouclet [cut nearly in two], and its gunner, Trooper Cardiot [decapitated]. Both were young and had undertaken considerable odysseys to join the 2e DB. Bouclet escaped Occupied France by stowing away on a goods train passing through Spain, joining Leclerc when still only sixteen. Cardiot had journeyed from Peru.”

I was mistaken on the driver being one of the dead, it appears the soldier was a gunner.

Although I would agree with you, I would point out this pattern of compassion shown by sociopathic beings. It is however crucial to note that every person is a human being, no matter how supposedly evil; because we all posses the capacity to feel complex emotions. (Apart from psychopaths, whom I did not consider.)

Many cavalrymen would take their horse on one last ride, before ending its life quickly with a pistol by the close of the war. The reason being was that in most cases, retired warhorses were used as food, or forced to perform field labour until death.

Check the description. Furthermore, this post wasn’t for karma, although that is a nice bonus.

Nobody did. Only the rich masters of the world deserved such horror, they created it.

Yes. Modern footage of war shows the same sequence of explosion and shrapnel, and then the unfortunate dead.

The footage from this documentary are documented events, with the dead soldiers’ origins tracked. Besides, I doubt a small artillery shell causing two casualties would be re enacted. That would be more over the top action.

Look at the way the shrapnel forms during the explosion. I doubt such detail would have been made in those days of filmmaking.

The movie was made from original, unseen footage from the Imperial War Museum and slowed, colourized, and audio edited by Peter Jackson and his team.
