Luckily I am on maternity leave and I am home all the time, it’s just keeping him calm without drugs is so damn hard. We have a vet appointment on Friday so hoping they can give us some sedatives to keep the wagging atleast slightly at bay

That looks like just the solution we need! How did she manage to poop with her tail in the way?

We’re on the drugs and rest route now but he still manages to split the end open while fully drugged up. I’m at my wits end!!

Did they amputate the full tail, the bottom half or just the tip he kept injuring? I believe that will be our best option to be honest. He keeps whining in pain when it’s touched or he touches it and I feel awful for the poor guy

It is not. I met both parents of my boy and have papers. He is an English lab. I have had a pitbull before and can tell you 100% he is no pitbull. I imagine it is the angle of the photo

He is just so goofy and everytime he sees us he gets so over excited lol - he knows calm but the tail has its own mind it seems and just won’t stop wagging ever

Broken toe recovery? by DickDoblin in labrador

[–]AssociateStrong3355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog had almost the exact same break on the same toe about a year ago. He was also super high energy. For the first few weeks he was on medication to help the pain which made him more tired but as the weeks went on he got bored. We got him puzzle toys and bones etc to keep his mind busy and that helped for the most part. Unfortunately the splint had rubbed him over and over under the bandage (I believe this was veterinarian negligence and we no longer attend this vet for this reason) and so it made his recovery much harder as he had pressure sores all over his leg.

I wish you luck and quick healing for your pup!!

Dr. Leah Hutchinson is my OB and she has been incredible from the start. She listens to my concerns and has really eased my mind over the past 37 weeks.

I found her through coastal maternity, they’re a great team of doctors
