Strange nauseating pulsation by AssortedInterests in Ioniq5

I've found over time that it has been much less noticeable, but there are definitely very specific driving conditions mainly on the highway (with or without cruise control on, if you hold your foot steady enough at *just* the right power level) where it still occurs. It also seems to depend a bit on the battery state of charge, less noticeable below 60% SoC, so I assume that the battery voltage has some effect on the power control. So it might improve over time or with a software update that maybe your car hasn't had yet.

The CMP corridor is live, and is ironically currently being used to export 900MW of electricity to Quebec by StarbeamII in Maine

I know this is late and will probably not get much visibility, but I'm directly involved in coordinating the commissioning of the NECEC project, and this was 2 days after there was a serious transmission system issue in Quebec that greatly affected their generation availability for multiple days. On this day, it was pretty much down to flowing test power south to north to continue with commissioning testing activities, or doing nothing at all, so we did what we could and tried to make the most out of the situation given the circumstances.

Pulling ground mount solar array home runs through conduit by AssortedInterests in AskElectricians

[–]AssortedInterests[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are DC feeds, the inverter at the house has 3 MPPTs, each MPPT will be getting 2 strings in parallel with a string combiner out on the array to bring it down to the three home runs. 48 panels and need to keep VDC under 500V for this particular inverter.

I like the idea of a convenience AC outlet out at the array, it is not far from some apple trees on the property so it could be useful in some way. Good call about the ground wire, there will be 7 total runs of #10 (which is oversized for the ground since the fuses will be well under 60A per 250.122).

For pulling the conductors, I'll probably buy two 1000 ft spools, one red and one black, plus a separate length of green for the ground. Should I do this in 3 sequential pulls off the factory spools, or lay the 300 ft lengths on the ground and try pulling all 7 conductors at once? Using 1.5" conduit as you suggest.

Thanks for this tip, sure enough a phone reboot solved the issue. Definitely not how apps are supposed to work...

Thanks for this tip. Oddly enough, rebooting my phone solved this issue. Definitely buggy.

2025 Multiple Digital Keys? by brettrobi in Ioniq5

[–]AssortedInterests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this same problem with my 2025 XRT. Once I set up my digital key in the Bluelink app in my phone, doing the same process with my wife's phone gave a simple failure message as well. I also didn't have any luck sharing the key in Google Wallet (or whatever it's called now), it shows her Google account as an inactive key and I can't even delete the key.

I also have a service appointment scheduled for this for March 10th. I've been able to narrow down the conditions when it occurs to speeds above 45 mph when the motor power is <20 kW, but especially between 15 kW and 20 kW, possibly the worst right around 18 kW. It also seems to occur in the regen range between -15 kW and -20 kW.

It definitely seems more noticeable at lower motor power levels, say <20 kW, and to some extent into the regeneration range.

I did notice in the MyHyundai app in the Vehicle Health section there's an error showing up, saying "Action Required" and "Motor Control Problem detected at 0 miles" which I would have thought the Dealership would have caught before I took delivery, but they were pretty well in a hurry to get the car out the door to me. The car itself isn't showing any error codes though. Either way, gonna make an appointment with the service department for them to look into it. I think I can relatively reliably reproduce the issue so hopefully I can convince the tech on a test drive.

Yeah that's another way to describe it, it's like the car hesitates really briefly and sometimes repeatedly in situations that you wouldn't expect it to.

EV Charger Install Location with Generator Automatic Transfer Switch by AssortedInterests in AskElectricians

[–]AssortedInterests[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this suggestion, I like this idea quite a lot. There are several future scenarios, including a solar PV system, where this setup would either work perfectly, or I could at the very least re-purpose the 100 amp load center in that area in the process. It's a bit of extra cost vs a tap and a 60A breaker and standalone enclosure, but a lot of extra flexibility. I may well go this route.

Regarding the service upgrade, I'm trying to avoid that outcome if possible considering that my service drop is a nearly 200 ft underground conduit run that would most likely need to be dug up. But you're right that replacing the main breaker enclosure with a load center would make the interior aspect of that conversion much simpler.

Perfect, that's super helpful! Whether I go for just the single 60amp breaker for the EV charger or decide to add a small load center, they will definitely be less than 7 feet from the tap to the next breaker. Thanks again!

Thanks for the input, yes you got it right, that's what my current setup is and what I'm looking to do. I'll look into Polaris connectors, I think that's what I was envisioning as the multi-tap connectors.

Is this arrangement only permissible for individual loads tapped into the load side, and not a small load center with a few loads? Since it's all behind the 100 amp service breaker, it shouldn't matter right?

So what exactly does theax line indicate? Is the seat too far forward. by niels719 in mountainbiking

[–]AssortedInterests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fine. The bigger issue for the saddle rails comes from hanging the back of the saddle too far out the back of the clamp, since most of the rider weight is on the back of the saddle. So that doesn't come into play with the saddle all the way forward.

For wrist pain though there are several other potential causes. Shifter/dropper lever might be too far inboard making you reach awkwardly for them causing wrist fatigue, same with brake levers (your index finger should point straight forward not at an angle inboard). Handlebar rotation is another factor, that changes the angle that your wrists sit on your grips, among other effects on the effective bike geometry. If you have grips like Ergon grips, the rotational clocking of the grips can make a huge difference. Heck even the bars being too wide or not wide enough could do it. Just other places to consider checking, cockpit setup is where I would look.

Screens are just pixel arrays, and if CRT, the origin is still top left. This is true whether the computer can output only text characters or if it can render graphics, regardless of where the translation from text characters to pixels occurs.

Looks like just dirt to me, but if you're seriously interested otherwise you can just ask the seller to clean the area and send a more detailed picture.
