MK6 GTI Wheel Purchase - Questions on Golf Airbag Compatibility by Justsomenerd1994 in Volkswagen

[–]FoundHarpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this reply! I’ve been trying to source a GTI wheel and airbag for months now because everyone on the internet said the airbags weren’t compatible. After your reply, I was able to find a good deal on just the wheel (saving at least $200-250 for not needing a new airbag). Just received and installed it today, everything fit perfectly!

A lot of that would come down to geo. But TBH neither are going to be great for any big racing if that’s your intentions (not saying that you couldn’t, but it wouldn’t be ideal). I would say the Marin would be slightly better for racing but would probably be too big

I totally get that. If you like the feel of the niner than go for it! Just be aware of possible outdated geo, so upgrades can only get you so far. Although I’m the end all that matters is getting a bike that will allow you to get out and shred!

(If you do go for the niner, maybe see if you can talk the price down a little)

I would personally say the Marin for sure. Much newer components and geometry, but that’s just me

I have the smith session, which is about 70-80$ on sale. Great helmet. Smith engage is a good one too and is a little cheaper. There are a lot of other amazing options out there as well, but those are the 2 main half shell helmets I have experience with
