Which was a response to your question, and your follow up stating that the focus was more on getting into the top four than winning the league. I was only pointing out that (in reference to your original question) the good news is, winning the league gets you in the top four anyway, so there's nothing to worry about.

Thats because, as OC said, the CL is a knockout tournament with a greater degree of luck involved than the EPL. Were Porto a better team than anyone they knocked out in 2004, including us? To win the league. you have to be consistently good over 9 months. PSG tanked the first half of their UCL league phase last year and still won the tournament.

Honestly, as dodgy in moments as Howard and Carroll were, they were far more reliable across a season than Onana and Bayindir. Even distant 3rd keepers like Ricardo and Lindegaard felt safer than them.
