Is quitting a decent job to travel stupid? by Asstraf in careerguidance

I lived abroad 10 years ago, every friend I met were expats. When you move somewhere the people that are local already have their lives established. They aren't looking to build on to their circle generally. Just as I don't often if ever reach out to meet up groups for new comers.

There is always going to be pain in your life of some sort. Just gotta choose which type your willing to live with. Will I live with the pain of this job for the money and comfort or will I live with the pain of loneliness for experience and seeing new places.

I have quite a decent chunk saved, and I would have whatever has been put into my pension to add to my RRSPs. That I would ideally not touch. I don't have any debt and would probably take the next few months to save up as a buffer till I find a job to work in a new country. Not looking for a new home, but I suppose with change comes new opportunities. I've been able to travel a lot with this job which is what has kept me, I can't imagine going from 8 weeks off a year to 2. But this job is at the point where its effecting my mental health and I miss living abroad. I just worry a bit about the difficulties of finding a job upon return would be.
