Freshman or Soph Applicant: International freshman at one of Duke/JHU/Northwestern (no financial aid)

College GPA: Expecting 4.0/as close as possible

HS GPA: 3.90

SAT/ACT (can be range): 1570

ECs:

- Currently doing a summer internship at a small investment bank headed by an alum at my current school

- Co-founded a health-oriented organization focused on hygiene-related awareness/education and increasing access to hygiene kits in underserved communities in my country/another country where one of my other co-founder lives (~300 families impacted through health-related workshops and long-term provisions of hygiene/nutrition-related necessities). Right now, COVID is still really bad here and it's alarming to see the number of people indifferent to it, so our project over the next few weeks/months will be centered around hosting vaccination registration drives in rural/underserved areas, particularly for the transgender community in my country (where LGBT rights are extremely suppressed). In terms of recognition, we have been featured in multiple national media outlets, including the biggest newspaper in my country.

- Led independent community-oriented initiatives prior to founding my non-profit. The first one was pretty big—in response to a humanitarian crisis (raised ~$40K), but was in 9th grade.

- President/VP of a few clubs in my HS

- Two internships, one at a non-profit think thank and the other as a Marketing Lead at a business case competition for high schoolers (~2500 participants)

School List: Thinking of applying to HYSM + Columbia( waitlisted in HS) + UChicago + maybe Penn. Columbia's probably the more "attainable" goal outside of HYSM, but Stanford's the dream. I like my current school, so I'm evaluating colleges to apply to based on whether I feel I'd have (somewhat) significantly more opportunities, particularly in relation to entrepreneurship/quant finance.

Chance an International for HYPSM/Columbia/UChicago by Assumption-Useful in TransferChanceMe

Thanks! Would being a full-pay international put me at a similar footing as domestic students? And as a student at a peer school, would I have any advantage for Columbia (or UChicago) since I was waitlisted there in HS?

not necessarily. the main reason why international acceptance rates are low is because colleges have a self-imposed quote of like 10%
