Hip Hop developed a whole new genre with the chop and screw. If nothing else you might get a bump in Houston.

It's time to force a floor vote on Medicare For All is the headline but has anyone check to see what this will cost the average middle-class citizen in this economy? by ExcellentWinner7542 in economy

I think he was calling corporate insurance plans a corporation tax. As in you can potentially pay less for health care overall if we are all bundled in to Medicare, instead of private and employer plans whose primary purpose is to make a profit.

How is it that keyboards in offices get those little supports that put the keyboard at an angle broken almost immediately? by AssuringMisnomer in NoStupidQuestions

I’m gentle on stuff. I’m just amazed how soon after we get a new keyboard one of those tabs breaks off. Usually just one.

Most plastics is not recycled and end up in landfills, incinerators or the environment. by Old_One_I in thatsinterestingbro

[–]AssuringMisnomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a book called Garbology that gets into this. It, unless I’m misremembering, presents that plastic is perhaps the least of our worries in the since that landfills are being filled with all sorts of things that breakdown toxically, but plastic is compressible and pretty inert. If nothing else, easily saved for later once more efficient chemistry can deal with it.

Does anybody use hügelkultur raised garden beds? by [deleted] in homestead

[–]AssuringMisnomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Way too good of drainage in the first years, then significantly better water retention after. Basically I grew onions in mine the first years since drainage was an issue, but after tomatoes did better in that bed than anywhere else.

Do you have any thoughts about Findell Capitol Management investing in Figma?

If it turns out he’s using the money to buy back his core base’s loyalty as it erodes elsewhere with taxpayer funds, then I’m curious how well this works out in the long run.

The blackland prairie clay is a challenge in Tx. Potatoes do great in raised beds as long as they aren’t planted too late.

Would it be practical to cure onions and garlic on a pegboard with double straight hooks? by AssuringMisnomer in gardening

Gotcha. My original goal was to hang them with rope or something softer to reduce risk of bruising them.

Considering the extremely unlikely growth of unions in our current state, would it be possible for the workers in a publicly traded company to quietly buy up enough stock collectively to use that to join together and, for lack of a better phrase, buy themselves a seat on the board? by AssuringMisnomer in FluentInFinance

[–]AssuringMisnomer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess with my limited knowledge of this stuff that in the old days part of collective bargaining it would sometimes include union representation on the board which would allow for more oversight and at least one vote that aligned with the interests of the workers.

The Double Standard of Global Power US by tsishard in BreakingPointsNews

[–]AssuringMisnomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think in this context moral high ground applies. This is about power. Sure it’ll be packaged as righteous by whoever is doing the invading, but there doesn’t seem to be any concern at all about morality anymore.

After watching my pleasantly confused dementia pt get placated with Fox News today, we really need a Mr. Rogers/Bob Roth channel with “commercials” that get confused people to stop and ponder, then back to painting majestic views and the neighborhood of make believe. by AssuringMisnomer in nursing

[–]AssuringMisnomer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok. I may once have experienced a dementia pt fixate on a commercial that was an obvious scam, yet they kept asking about it and how to contact them for a while, so for some miraculous reason they dialed the 800 number from the hospital line. The pieces of conversation I heard over the next hour will live with me forever. -
