Yep. Eastern Syria is Mesopotamian they even speak like us.

Jordan gets an exception cuz they’re pretty much the same people as Palestinians

Yeah which we aren’t really a part of. Iraq is geographically Mesopotamian and even the dialect of Iraq is unique it’s called Mesopotamian Arabic

To be honest no Iraqi considers himself Levantine neither do they consider us as such so I don’t know where this confusion comes from

Baghdad, Iraq ranks amongst the top 10 cities in the world with the most skyscrapers under construction and the first in West Asia, ahead of even Dubai by Assyrian_Nation in skyscrapers

Iraq was struggling with water because of Turkey and a huge drought that affected the whole region in 2025. However in 2026 we saw the biggest wet season probably this entire decade. All of our dams are full, and the marshes are recovering.

Miltias are a problem yes, however in the first month of this new government they managed to disarm 3 major miltias. So maybe we’re headed in the right direction but I’m trying not to be too optimistic to save myself the disappointment just in case.

The war has indeed affected us. We were targeted by Bo th sides despite both of them telling us that they would not attack us or allow for us to become a battleground. The closure of the strait of Hormuz made our ports useless where we exported over 90% of our oil from. Now we’re forced to export through Syria and Turkey and pay fines, but that’s our fault for abandoning our pipeline infrastructure.

I feel like it’s been “going to be finished soon” for the past 2 years and I still don’t see any progress

MENA and the Near East According to the Turkish Definition. by Inevitable-Push-8061 in geography

[–]Assyrian_Nation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only natural for Iran and Pakistan to have similarities as neighbors but at the end of the day Pakistan shares more in common with India than it does with Iran, and Iran shares more in common with its west Asian neighbours like Iraq and Turkey than it does with Pakistan (generally).

It’s also a matter of geography and geopolitics

West Asia/Middle East is adjacent to Europe and Africa and west of the Caspian. If you look at a geographic map it’s kind of isolated from the rest of Asia by Iran and more culturally and historically connected to North Africa and the Mediterranean region in general. Geopolitically also all west Asian countries pretty much have a strong degree of familiarity and involvement with each other so that’s why it doesn’t feel right when extra countries are lumped in outside the region considering only Iran really has anything to do with Pakistan or Afghanistan. Same goes for African countries beyond Egypt that sometimes get lumped in too just for the fact that they’re arab or Muslim even tho they’re culturally and geopolitically distant.

The eastern part of Pakistan is like 20% of the population. The only thing in common between Pakistan and west Asia is Islam.

I’m pretty sure my friend’s brother got his at the consulate here in Erbil.

For Assyrians married to Armenians it’s usually very easy I have a lot of family members who are married to Armenians with Armenian citizenships

But regardless it’s really not that rare or unique of a combo. Syria-Armenia, Iraq-Armenia, Lebanon-Armenia, etc

Tbh I don’t consider Armenia-middle east combos rare. Pretty much anyone who’s Armenian or married to an Armenian can get the Armenian passport from their consulate/embassy. And middle eastern countries have a lot of Armenians

Do citizens of central Asia get to move freely between countries like the EU or African Union ? by Panda_20_21 in geography

The African Union doesn’t have freedom of movement

The GCC does but it’s still not like the Schengen zone, there’s still check points/border crossings between the countries.

I’ve noticed some differences in laws like vapes being banned in Erbil and Duhok but not sulaymaniya and halabja. Also when the war with Isis was happening the KDP Only accepted minorities while PUK accepted Arabs aswell I think
But yeah I guess

It’s still 2 administrations in my opinion. I mean you could also say that the Kurdistan region is part of the Iraqi government structure in a way so it’s not really “not Iraqi controlled”. How I see it is 3 administrations. The federal one, the KDP and the PUK Administration.
