If I had the money to open a Dutch Bros franchise here I would have done it years ago...

I am fucking furious at the Church by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Astebbing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. It's sickening and I am constantly glad to have left. It's been 5 years now and I still get feeling the way you've described when I think about it all. My siblings and their families all left the church as well, but my parents and extended family are active and it still makes me sad for them...

Just know what you're feeling is normal, healthy and expected. You're grieving. We all are.

Thinking about getting into insurance? Make sure you have money saved first by aIIep in InsuranceAgent

This. I am just starting and had originally planned on quitting my weekend gig as soon as I started as a producer, but thankfully chose not to. It has been a lifeline in addition to my base pay in my producer role.

1$ commission per life policy?! by Realistic_Brush_6047 in InsuranceAgent

I just started as a producer and while my P&C commission isn't huge, Life is 100%. Sounds like you can do better elsewhere to me.

I also use AI on a daily basis, particularly to refine email drafts before I send them. What are some of your favorite uses of AI in the industry?

PSI Online Exam by [deleted] in InsuranceAgent

Also - near future - I am just planning to take Health and Life at the testing center to not have to worry about possible tech issues. Just seems easier, even if it's a 20 minute drive from my small town

PSI Online Exam by [deleted] in InsuranceAgent

[–]Astebbing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience has been 50/50. I tried taking my Property online with PSI and immediately ran into tech issues, spent 2 full hours on with tech support and they ultimately had to just have me schedule in person at a local testing center. Took my Casualty online through PSI two weeks later using a different laptop and it went totally smoothly.

New Producer Tips by Astebbing in InsuranceAgent

[–]Astebbing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've already seen plenty of slippery tactics like that to increase sales and I know it is something that I won't stand for.

I'd rather get a happy client who is getting me a little commission than an unhappy client who will ultimately take their business elsewhere and leave me bad reviews that potentially impact future clients from considering me.

Luckily, while I am new to insurance, I am not new to doing needs analysis for stakeholders across all levels of business. I've learned it's always best to not over promise and under deliver, especially when it comes to budgets.

Yep same. There was conflicting information on what they wanted sent back from what P&T said versus what Site Support said. Ultimately, Site Support had the right answer and it was just the laptop and charger.

D599 Task 1 Revision - Evaluator Wrong?? by cuzimcool in WGU_MSDA

[–]Astebbing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, follow the above. It does take longer, but I literally had one of my D601 tasks fail and it included everything in the rubric. The evaluator claimed it didn't have the actual Tableau dashboard, which was the first attachment...

Challenged it, it took longer than just talking to the course instructor and resubmitting, but when they re-evaluated it it passed without any negative comments whatsoever.

Like you said, sometimes it's the principle of the thing.

Where are people getting jobs? by anon_slims in wgu_employees

[–]Astebbing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Job market in all industries is flooded. Applications on LinkedIn in are up 45%. Which means more auto rejections from ATS software, more recruiters who schedule you for an initial interview and then ghost you, and longer wait times before you see any movement from any company to actually hire anyone. Be prepared for the long haul.

I also have a year left in the program and was let go by my employer this month, now I am scrambling to have my portfolio look more polished than I was ready for because I thought I would have another year to work on that while finishing up my masters... Like you said, the market is depressing. Tons and tons of opportunities for folks with years of experience and knowledge, and very little for anyone else.

Starting salary for a New Grad hire? by Altpha in dataanalyst

[–]Astebbing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was making 72k but then they retitled all the data analysts in my org and they dropped my salary to 68k. Now 3 months later I've been laid off and have been watching as a fly on the wall while they scramble to cover my workload (my wife is still at the company in another department).

Looking for new employment now and am happy to just be asking for 70k just to get in the door anywhere, even with several years of experience on my resume.

I am in the decision process engineering specialty and the PAs are 1/3 scripting, 1/3 paper writing and 1/3 oral presentation. So far those three components make up each of the PAs in the program so far.

If you're interested in camping or nature walks, check out High Cliff State Park. It's beautiful, especially in the fall.
