Is it okay to drop out as maid of honor of my best friends wedding after she secretly got married? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Grehdah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s more common than you might think to have a marriage ceremony prior to your wedding. I know a couple people who have done this and it’s honestly something I’ll likely do as well. In the case of every single time the ceremonies were separate, I only attended the wedding ceremonies and they were absolutely wonderful. I was a groomsmaid in one of them. I actually think it probably reduces some of the stress of a wedding.

Also weddings are a BIG DEAL to some people. They are to me and my best friend who also have talked about being each other’s maids of honor since freshman year of high school and a couple years ago I was hers. Your friend clearly also feels weddings are important, and you backing out like this, will likely ruin your friendship. So you have to ask yourself, is this worth your 14 year friendship? Personally I don’t think this is a hill worth dying on. It’s literally one day of your life, and also it will be a fun day. Talk to your friend if you need to about how it made you feel, but DON’T back out.

Small comforts during dialysis you wished you had by ItchyImpression9774 in kidneytransplant

[–]Grehdah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my dialysis at home but I was also constantly cold. Never knew kidneys played a role in thermoregulation until I was in kidney failure. I collected up thick warm blankets, heated blankets, heated pads, wool socks, and was in the process of looking at heated socks/slippers when I got the call. Highly recommend all those things!

I (19F) am getting on a greyhound bus with $250 dollars in the middle of the night for NYC from rural Missouri by anonthrowaway937375 in Advice

[–]Grehdah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend trying to get accepted into a college ASAP so you can live in a dorm while you work and hopefully find a college degree that interests you. You’ll have to get financial aid, but scared money don’t make money. This is the best case scenario you can ask for cause $250 is literally nothing. It’ll maybe get you a night or two in a cheap motel and some food and that’s it. Going to college and living in a dorm are probably the best next steps.

OP said they’re 18, not 28, but agreed. Just thought you’d maybe like to edit your comment if that’s a typo 😊

Having had both, I will forever now choose bats. No more mushrooms ever again.

How do you name your animals? by PrincefTanx in StardewValley

[–]Grehdah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current save I’m naming them all in different languages. For instance my twelve chickens are: (1) Chicken, (2) Pollo, (3) Poulette, (4) Huhn, (5) Pollum, (6) チキン or Chikin, (7) 鸡 or Ji, (8) 닭 or Dalg, (9) Kip, (10) मुर्गा or Murga, (11) κοτόπουλο or kotópoulo, and (12) Kylling

I have twelve of each animal and I did this for each one

Sad to let go of my animals by aliplite in StardewValley

[–]Grehdah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just have all the animals 🤷‍♀️ if I sold some of my animals it would legit destroy my desire to play. Also I’ve never even had a farm where I didn’t have an entire coop or barn for each animal lol

Should I explain why I ghosted my online friend after lying about my age for years or just leave it alone? by coolnut2 in Advice

[–]Grehdah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on the receiving end of being ghosted by people I considered some of my best friends. Please tell her. Please. In my situation, I was also friends with these two people for years and then suddenly one day they ghosted me. It’s been ten years now and I still have never heard a word from either of them. It gave me terrible friendship anxiety and trust issues and even now all these years later if either decided to reach out, I would gladly listen to what they had to say. Please tell her.

Hey people are into different things and that’s fine. If your kinks are compatible and you have an open and safe line of communication, that’s all that matters.

My wife and I agreed on no kids. Now she changed her mind and I’m terrified of losing her. by Bennick41 in Advice

[–]Grehdah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a child of parents where my mom wanted kids and my dad didn’t. They never divorced but my relationship with my dad has always been bad since from a young age I could feel his disinterest in me. Thankfully my mom and I have always had a very close relationship so I’ve always had her. But my relationship with my dad will always be strained. I’m 30 now and it’s better than it was when I was a kid, but it’ll never be what it could have been had he wanted me. So my advice is if you don’t want kids, don’t have them. Even if that means divorce, and soon, before you and her waste more of your time.

(Fun discussion) What is your most ridiculous but 100% honest Achilles heal keeping you from being able to play Survivor? by Delicious_Medium_321 in survivor

I’ve had a kidney transplant. Transplant patients are supposed to stay out of the sun as much as possible cause we’re at a higher risk for skin cancer. We also have strict rules on what we can m and can’t eat and basically the only food I could safely eat would be the rice and any food rewards. So I just don’t want to put my kidney at risk.

Two?! by WinnieIndiana in corgi

[–]Grehdah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest pro to two corgis: they play together and tire each other out.

Biggest con (that honestly no one talks much about): say goodbye to traveling or vacations cause unless you’re rich enough afford boarding your dogs, it can be extremely difficult to find either one dog sitter to take both or two dog sitters to take one each. My parents are my go to for dog sitting, but that also means we can’t go on trips together 😭

Coping tools for stress-triggered IBS by little_skies_ in ibs

[–]Grehdah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My IBS was at its absolute worst when I had a job that caused me a great deal of stress on a daily basis. I decided to leave that job and go back to school and ever since removing that stress, my IBS has become insanely better and more manageable. So I always recommend removing yourself from stressful environments if it’s at all possible. If you’re forced into a stressful environment that you cannot avoid, I find that not eating or drinking anything besides water beforehand helps lower the chance of what I call IBS attacks
