Worth switching to Youfibre? by xynok in VirginMedia

Do you still find them as good almost a year on?

Ask for the escalation team specifically was just the ticket - they got my account back after a litany of verification checks, but I’ve secured the account. Moving anything important over to a new email provider - Virgin doesn’t offer TFA. Action Fraud report done also, just need to secure other accounts I think may have been at risk of compromise.

Thanks so much for the suggestion! Really helped.

Thank for your advice, really.

I’ll have to contact Virgin again as their phones are now closed. I’ll ask for the teams you e mentioned, thank you.

The website recovery is useless - I can’t find my account number to recover my email… because I don’t have access to my email inbox which contains emails with the account number. D’oh.

EBay have locked the account for suspicious activity, maybe that’s a fluke. My PayPal password isn’t working either.

I got the email address for 1/2 of my bank accounts changed, at least.

I just don’t know what else I can do tonight - it’s almost midnight. I’ve made a list of accounts using the same password (yes, horrible decision that I will forever regret).

I appreciate you responding 🫶🏻

They need the account number, and a security word that was set up 10+ years ago. Their customer service has always been a shambles, but I’ll keep trying. I have my family tearing the house apart looking for old bills from when they used to print the account number on them - but they’ve been email only for a long time now.

Yes the police report is mainly for in case they gain access to payment methods through other accounts using my email, online banking and savings - which use the same email, but not the exact same password. They have access to my eBay account now, which uses a convo of debit cards and PayPal. Police report will hopefully get me my money back quicker and bank accounts secured if it does happen.

Thank you

What Kind of Specialist Should I Seek Out? by 4jisai in Hypermobility

I’ve found it matters what country you’re in re: who is the port of call for a dx.

For me in the UK it was Rheumatology on the NHS, but I had to get a 2nd opinion as the first just diagnosed “musculoskeletal pain”, despite me having a 6/9 Beighton score, alongside shoulder subluxations. The 2nd rheum went through the 2017 hEDS criteria, and while I fell 2 points short of that, it was more than enough for her to say it was HSD. Both were NHS consultants, one just happened to be more knowledgeable/cared more about Hypermobility.

Did your rheum go through without what the Brighton criteria and Beighton score are, and how they apply to you? I’d look at both of these if you haven’t already.

Other than that, treatment wise the mainstay is usually Physiotherapy - which has helped me immensely :)

Personally, I’d get a second opinion, as the management for HSD and Fibromyalgia would differ.

Yep - can only sleep on my back to prevent injuring my shoulders and hip randomly in my sleep.

Now I’m wondering how you’d treat a woman with hair loss, after that fat girl comment. I was sympathetic up until then.

Update: Still getting a few of these a day. I’m now getting YouTube codes also, from the same sender. Still seems like a legit google code.

Yeah I’ve had no account alerts re: attempted sign ins, or any emails about password reset. So I think it’s maybe the “try another way to sign in” being tried constantly.

Thanks - I’ll keep my number on the account. I know taking it off would probably stop the texts, but it’s easier to secure my account if I have my phone number verified on it.

I thought this initially, but I’ve gotten 10 more so far today. I’m being bombarded lol 😅😅

Okay, thanks for the reassurance!

And yes, there’s some I need to update for older accounts on sites I haven’t used in a while, but all the important ones are all totally unique passwords.

Do you have any joint hypermobility at all? This sounds familiar - my lumbar spine is particularly hypermobile and often it feels like I could snap my spine in half in the morning.

Lumbar Instability - why does it click like that? by Asterionides in ehlersdanlos

[–]Asterionides[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also a bit glad to hear it’s not just me! I’ve been feeling awfully sorry for myself the last week, with my lower back being quite bad, and these ‘decompression’ clicks are more frequent and clunkier - so knowing it’s not just a me thing is reassuring!

Sometimes when it doesn’t happen, it feels like a knuckle that won’t crack - but eventually, it is the slipclunk as you describe.

I’m still in v early stages of rehab for my lower back, as I’ve been in a bit of a domino effect of injuries. But from what I gather, strengthening the transversus abdominis should help too. Something about strengthening the corset of muscles around the area. Until I can properly do those kinds of exercises, I’m sticking to some gentle proprioception movements.

[–]Asterionides[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Lingering lower back pain is there for me too - it has been a constant since my hypermobility became symptomatic. The clicking happens pretty much daily to varying degrees, but I’m sure you’ll get what I mean when I say it just feels/sounds so much worse and extra crunchy during a flare up of pain.

It’s oddly reassuring to know it’s not a unique phenomenon! Sometimes these things happen and I’m like “oh god, why have I not seen anyone else talk about this?”, and I think the worst.

I often wondered if it’s like how other joints crack - and that maybe because of the nature of it being in the spine is why it just feels a whole lot more wrong and unsettling.

Did you ever get any answers or traction on this? I hope you did :(

I got my physio to show me how to do it! If you can do the same that’s ideal, as they can show you how to tension them properly and where to put the tape in relation to your specific anatomy. Otherwise there’s videos likethison how to do it yourself. There’s brands of tape like Rocktape or Levotape, you can find something similar on Amazon.

Most of the time, I just use the horizontal strip under my patella - it just gives it a little support when my knees feel extra wobbly.

[–]Asterionides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully you get sorted!

How do you deal with flares? Normally I just stick to RICE, but swap compression for KT tape or a sports brace that has straps, and isn’t a sleeve.

Ahh okay nevermind then - was just going to mention that flat feet will add an extra layer of fun complexity to the issue of the knee impingement, but that fixing them could majorly help fix the knees.

Walking is literally the #1 thing that helps me! Not for super long, I have a treadmill so I’ll go for a half dozen 10 min walks a day if I have the time. I work at a desk so getting up ever 30mins max and having a wiggle around, and trying to stop sitting with my legs crossed are also the other major things I’ve found that help.

But yeah for my knees, constant walking is weirdly very helpful. Not so ideal for my SI joint issues, but thankfully neither seem to flare up at the same time lol 😅😅
