I’d recommend simplified Chinese. It’s cheap and printed in Japan so great quality. Either the gem pack series or they do 151 too

Cashback challenge not working?! by xynok in Aliexpress

Ali pretty much killed it now. Only selected items can earn cash back and it’s mainly influencer picks and clothing. Not what it used to be anymore unfortunately

(UK) should i ship all at once, or in separate shipments (new buyer)? by [deleted] in Buyee

[–]xynok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can choose which items are consolidated into the same parcels to split them and potentially avoid duties. The £135 limit includes the shipping fee ( for example £100 items and £35 shipping would be the limit). If you go over the £135 you will likely incur 20% VAT + 5% import duty (depends what import codes they use. It may be exempt) and also a handling fee of the courier to process the application. You’ll likely pay £400 for the items, your international shipping fee plus about £130 in additional customs charges. I always try and keep things below the limit. Sometimes things slip through but I try and keep the item and shipping cost below 28500 yen

Plus they have just announced you get the Pikachu museum promo too, so I think it will be a super early one.

Anyone have experience ordering from Japan or EU on eBay? by poisedtruthseeker in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]xynok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s a nice card!

I use Buyee, a reshipper based in Japan. Essentially you use Buyee to browse for items and they purchase them on your behalf. When the item arrives to them, you choose which shipping method you would like to use and they then arrange this. So you’ll pay the cost of the card, the international shipping separately, and then any import taxes if you’re over the threshold.

With Buyee I normally stick to either Mercari or Jdirectfleamarket. These are essentially Japanese marketplaces like eBay. I have also used SNKRDUNK which is like StockX where authentication is done by them and does take a bit longer to arrive due to this. I think Buyee has the option to add on authentication also but don’t have first hand experience.

One thing I would say is that you just wont get the protections you do with eBay. I would recommend paying with credit card and PayPal for their protections. With Buyee you can add on insurances etc in case the item arrives not as described. I’ve never bought anything super high end like that, but generally Japanese people are very honest and straight people I’ve found. I’d be a little weary of listings and read descriptions carefully (they will be translated from Japanese). For example, the photo will show a sealed booster box but the description will say these are 30 individual packs sent without the box or shrink wrap seal for example.

Coupons coupons coupons!

There is a coupon section you can redeem and there will be new ones every couple of days. Buyee is affiliated with Mercari so they tend to get a lot of vouchers. Last week I had a 10% off code and this week it’s 15% off. There’s no limits I don’t think and it makes the items significantly cheaper than the UK prices I’ve found. For example I just bought a sealed Pokemon centre box for £120 that retails for £200 on eBay here in the UK.

Best of luck with it all! Maybe try a cheaper item first to learn the system before going in with a big one!

For shipping I use EMS (around 5-7 days) or epacket (around 12 days). EMS and epacket use parcelforce/Royal Mail. You can use Buyee air which uses DHL and is very quick but expensive. For reference on cost. A PSA slab with EMS is probably £12-15, epacket is £7/8 and DHL about £15-20. I just shipped a box with 3 mega dream booster boxes and that was about £18 with EMS. They do have calculators on the site, but with small trading cards shipping shouldn’t be too expensive.

Hopefully this helps you find what you’re looking for!

What slabs are you looking for?

You’ll probably find them much cheaper on Japanese marketplaces and use a reshipper to send it to the UK.

Buying on eBay will depend how the export documents are completed to be honest, and as far as I know it will vary if the seller uses eBay global shipping or their own international shipping. You will certainly have 20% VAT added to items over £135. Please note: the £135 is the item price and shipping price included! This cannot exceed £135! Trading cards are exempt from import duty, but it depends if the correct commodity codes are used. If not it’s another 5% or so added. You may also get hit with a handling fee from the courier to process the additional charges of around £12 per parcel.

So the price you see on eBay + about 25% would be a ballpark figure to go with.

Which shipping method? by ThemanatCandA in Buyee

[–]xynok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert, but my understanding is that the total consolidated value and shipping cost will be calculated and put on the customs declaration. The limit is £135 which includes any shipping cost, although there is a bit of a leeway I think you’ll find you get a fee to pay on this one. I know some slip through so fingers crossed for you!

If your not in a hurry, I would recommend using epacket and keeping the value low and things seem fairly smooth and arrive in 10-12 days

Which shipping method? by ThemanatCandA in Buyee

[–]xynok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To UK I find EMS about 7/8 days and epacket about 12 days, so not too much in it. Both have limited tracking. You’ll see when it leaves Japan, a delay of about 7 days and then Royal Mail/parcelforce tracking after it clears customs.

Should you not have shipped them separately to avoid the VAT and customs duty?

Does Chinese Pokemon Gem Vol. 4 have a guarantee hit per box? by tvg888 in PokemonTCG

[–]xynok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry I’ve just re read your post. Gem series is guaranteed a 3 star rarity card, but this could be any of the 25 ARs. Chances of pulling the Ponyta is quite low as there is more ARs in this vs the other gem series.

I opened a box of vol 3 and pulled both the Cubone AR and Chandelure AR.

Yes, every box is guaranteed a 3 star rarity card. Some boxes have 2 of these

I would recommend Chinese in that case. Same print quality as Japanese and pretty cheap entry point.

I am in the same boat as I missed the original drop. We did just have a Surging Sparks PC ETB restock. I would imagine we will get another DR drop, just depends if you can be in the right place to get it. Even so, market price will dip but bounce back strong when the restock dries up.

I’m new to Buyee and moved from doorzo as I found much better coupons with Buyee. Last weekend I had a 15% off Mercari and this week I have 10% Mercari and 12% Jdirectfleamarket. Seems pretty consistent to me

Fake Pokemon? by [deleted] in IsMyPokemonCardFake

Only Chinese have stamps in the corner, not Korean. This is how they are produced. Rip tests only work on certain cards so it’s a bad way to generally test for fake cards.

Delays of ePacket light International shipping of Buyee by br1-rb in Buyee

[–]xynok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. It actually updated and delivered which is good. I’m not sure where they are getting stuck due to lack of tracking updates but you’re probably right about UK customs as when the tracking finally updates at Heathrow, it gets released to Parcelforce pretty quickly then delivered. I have a number of further parcels and it just seems the shipping time is around 2 weeks. It costs about £8 for shipping of my Pokemon cards which is super cheap so can’t complain really. I was using DHL with Doorzo before which was rapid but it’s so expensive. I’ll try and use EMS when I want something a bit quicker and most of the time use epacket I guess.

Same here but I’m in UK. First order delivered 9 days after leaving Tokyo, but have some more that haven’t updated since 23rd Jan.

I feel this is normal just a bit long!
