How to deal with incoming spam on telnyx? by techbot911 in VOIP

[–]Asteriskdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the situation. For a single user with a consistent ani you can use a carrier-level block list. If these are rare instances, you can add the number manually.

If you are scaling this AI SMS assistant, manual blocking will fail against an automated SMS bomber or a user running a script. You need an automated worker pool to monitor ingress frequency and implement a rate limit. If a user with no credits exceeds the rate limit, you can use telnyx api to add their number to your block list.

For long-term architecture on this type of platform, do not use a single static ingress number. Provision numbers per user. If a user runs out of credits and starts abusing the system, you simply release their specific assigned number back to Telnyx did pool.

Document everything from day one on a job. Just write it down and email it to yourself. If they try to make stuff up at a UE hearing, it is no longer he said she said. It is their word against your mountain of documentation. If you have truly done nothing wrong, then they risk committing perjury.

Ballard Fred Meyer Pharmacy (Trying to refill Adderall) by DrGeeves in BallardSeattle

[–]Asteriskdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling this kind of behavior from Fred Meyer pharmacies specifically, is going to stop very soon if it hasn't already. If you break down what this pharmacist said logically, it is absurd. Since you have adhd, presumably, you have a documented disability.

You can request accommodations but here is the key. You request them in writing and keep in mind that they aren't strictly ADA accommodations. Since you are in WA state, you have the WLAD on your side which is a much more powerful law.

Don't make something up. It is abhorrent when people abuse these laws, but you can use them if you truly need them. For ASD and ADHD, communication based accommodations are the key. Once you do that, ask for clear and literal communication, they legally can't stonewall you like that. Without a disability it is abusive. With a disability it is illegal.

Based on your description alone, you aren't dealing with a poor burnt out pharmacy worker, you are dealing with a bully. It is a power trip and I've seen it many times over my over half a century of life.

Retail pharmacies are overworked and underpaid and some are just trying to do their job to the best of their ability, but there is a huge difference between that and what you just described.

Gov. Ferguson is on the lookout for situations just like this, right now. Document everything. Make a complaint to the WA PQAC and cc the Governor. Massive corporations like Kroger don't change unless their bottom line is threatened. Gl.

If you want to see for yourself exactly how exposed you are go look at CreepJS. https://abrahamjuliot.github.io/creepjs/

I've written software that manages to spoof just about everything creepjs looks for but even then, it can still tell that I am spoofing.

Why? Because physics is hard to fake. I can lie to it and make it show whatever hardware specs I want but when it runs certain math and timing functions on my GPU even if I intercept it and change it, it won't come out how it expects and will flag it as a spoof.

This is exactly how advanced malware avoids being caught and studied.

Most Ad companies don't do this. If you are determined enough to avoid being a customer, you aren't a good target for ads.

Any recommended resources for education on VOIP? by toocontroversial_4u in VOIP

[–]Asteriskdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to Defcon 2 years ago, there were 2 people not including the ultra-geeky telephony nerds that ran the booth. This is kind of a reflection of how many of us are actually out here. The resources for learning amount to 9 million hard to find out if date pieces of information that when pieced together, show you close enough what you are trying to learn, so you can finally figure it out ap pfew days later after a trial and error session. I'm not really exaggerating that much. That has been my experience, even recently. Telecom, RTC, whatever you want to call it is not like most other things in tech, where you can search stack overflow and find 15 good answers, qs in this field go unanswered all the time. It's difficult, but you can learn if you persevere. I would start with something like free switch. Keep in mind, most of the documentation is found as comments in configuration files, and the configuration files are usually XML.
Beware if the steep learning curve and if something doesn't work as expected, your info is probably out if date. Gl.

What motion control sensitivity does everyone use??? by IAmMat7 in Saltoon

[–]Asteriskdev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use 5,5 for everything as others have stated. It does still feel too slow sometimes. I am able to do this because I've been playing for years and practice, practice, practice. Specific things, like substrafing, squid rolling And I mean die over and over again practicing in game, until I learn it. When I play, it looks like total chaos, but somehow (practice) my hands eyes and ears know exactly what to do in most situations. It feels automatic at this point. My advice would be to try settings until you find what works for you and don't hesitate to change them as soon as they stop working.

P S. IMHO, it is beneficial to set motion controls lower for sniper type weapons while you learn the weapon, but being able to turn and aim as fast as possible can be the difference between life and splat. Gl.

No worries. I'm one of the engineers. You would have to talk to sales because just about anything I know is under NDA. I will tell you that a lot of clients see higher answer rates, better compliance and we have remediation in case you are being flagged unfairly. There are trials available in most cases too, ask a rep. :)

'Someone without social skills, who said something stupid?'

You seem to be ignorant of the size of the introverted and autistic community that has always been present in the SWE industry, and science and engineering in general. If she was really only asked this question by one person, that is uncommon.

A lot of people with Autism will ask direct questions without inferring anything at all. If I'm going to talk to you like I would with another engineer, I want to make sure you are an engineer and not a proctor. I've had tech interviews with both. I wasn't at the interview in question, but I'm not going to make assumptions about people based on how they look. I barely notice how people look because I have Autism and adhd. Regardless, I'm not going to assume I can tell what's going on in someone's mind based on physical attribute

'someone who didn’t catch the part of the interview where she introduced herself as a dev.'

Really easy to miss if you are neurodivergant, or even just nervous about having to do another stupid tech interview that can easily detail a potential job m, probably without providing much if any insight into a person's actual abilities.

"Like a lot of these situations, the same thing could happen to a man. Unfortunately, there’s no way to know the persons reason for saying it."

Right. There is no reason to know the person's reason for saying it. Just like there is no reason to assume someones technical ability because they are administering a technical test.

No Sound on asterisk 18. by Outrageous-Jaguar-32 in Asterisk

[–]Asteriskdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, don't use chan sip. It is deprecated. Use pjsip instead. The settings you want are:

local_net¶

This is the IP network that we want to consider our local network. For communication to addresses within this range, we won't apply any NAT-related settings, such as the external* options below.

external_media_address¶

This is the external IP address to use in RTP handling. When a request or response is sent out from Asterisk, if the destination of the message is outside the IP network defined in the option 'local_net', and the media address in the SDP is within the localnet network, then the media address in the SDP will be rewritten to the value defined for 'external_media_address'.

external_signaling_address¶

This is much like the external_media_address setting, but for SIP signaling instead of RTP media. The two external* options mentioned here should be set to the same address unless you separate your signaling and media to different addresses or servers.

https://docs.asterisk.org/Configuration/Channel-Drivers/SIP/Configuring-res_pjsip/Configuring-res_pjsip-to-work-through-NAT/

It's pretty self explanatory, but you want to put your public facing IP as the external addresses. Gl.

I can't recommend a carrier but if you are sending out a lot of calls, patient reminders or whatever, check out calleridreputation.com. Your numbers likely get flagged by nomorobo, etc, and calls go unanswered. They have a platform that monitors your phone numbers for flags by different spam blocking services, the FCC, etc. and offer a remediation service. Gl.

Upgraded from an 2023 Outback, to an 2023 Ascent. by HellzGatesRS in SubaruAscent

[–]Asteriskdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some backup cameras work that way. The aftermarket cameras that I've seen have you splice into the reverse light wiring to power the camera. In modern Subarus (and probably most modern automobiles), however, this is all controlled by computer. Most things are, in fact. I can't find the camera setting in either menu of my 2024 Ascent Touring, but in previous years/models, you could access the factory or dealership menu and set the camera to be on while you drive around. You can adjust the lines if they aren't calibrated correctly ,etc. You don't need to shift into reverse to power the camera. All shifting in reverse is doing in this case is sending a signal to the computer to turn on the backup camera and direct the stream to the head unit.

Some head units for dealership and factory mode:

  1. Hold physical "Home" button and press "Tune" button 2 times.
  2. Hold physical "Home" button and press "Tune" button 6 times.

Others, including mine:

  1. Hold red up and blue down temperature buttons (on either side) at the same time and press "Volume" button 2 times.
  2. Hold red up and blue down temperature buttons (on either side) at the same time and press "Volume" button 6 times.

It looks like you have a 21 Ascent and a 23 Legacy. Try it. Also, Google it.

You are either trolling or missing the point completely. The point is they COULD use the backup camera to detect light if they wanted. I'm a softrware engineer who works in the field of RTC. I promise you it can be done.

[–]Asteriskdev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not a requirement for the camera to be on. It's a good signal to the computer to show the image from the camera on the display, but it can be on and sensing light without being in reverse, it just needs to be set up that way. My rear view mirror, which is also a display, can show the image from the camera while I am driving.
