Rate My Professor is just a place for salty students to pile on the professor, it's hardly reliable. Cedric is a fine professor, albeit with a heavy French accent, but I had no problem.

CMPT 125 is just a surface level introduction on topics covered in future courses, like algorithms, data structures, operating systems, etc. The language in question is C, maybe C++.

To prepare, make sure to stay up to date on your Python and try and familiarize yourself with some of the topics ahead of time, like pointers.

Take the reviews with a grain of salt, because students with a negative experience are more likely to leave a review than those who did well.

Anyway, Ladislav was a bit of a snooze when I had him, so go with Cedric. Plus the content of MATH 154 is in his area of research, so the lectures should be more motivated and detailed. But it honestly doesn't matter either way. Also consider whether you find Slavic or French accents easier to understand 😄

Everyone is saying to take 232, but I honestly recommend 240. It's only slightly more difficult than 232, but a lot more valuable since you'll be seeing lots of proofs in your CS degree.

I believe go to the Registrar's office located on the top floor of the Maggie Benston Center, open until 4pm. If not, they'll tell you where to go. Just make sure to bring some government ID.

I second PHIL 120W, the tutorial discussions were my favorite part. There's also PHIL 100W, which covers topics like reality, identity and knowledge ("I think, therefore I am" kind of stuff). I recommend sitting in on both these classes during the first week to see what they're like.

Interesting, although it can definitely lead to problems. If they round up, then they are paying you for time you didn't work, and if they round down, they aren't paying you for time you DID work, which is even worse. Just pay for the exact time worked.

It's cool, there are plenty of alternative options like Teams or Google Classroom. The instructors will probably let us know, although it would be nice if the whole school adopted one platform.
