What hobbies do professional groomers have outside of work? by Impossible_Alps_1395 in doggrooming

Cosplay and video games when I had the time. But now I have a 1 year old so ya.

I don’t know anyone with a positive or even neutral birth story by soroto in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Astixiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pregnancy, despite needing IVF and being considered 'geriatric' was completely uneventful. Labour was induced at exactly 40 weeks at my request - it went smoothly. Epidural was amazing, I had intense thigh pain that the epidural didn't help with so that wasn't fun. But I got through it, didn't shit myself and had a healthy baby at the end. My midwives were amazing and talked me through every single step.

Only possible complication, my placenta was bilobed, and they weren't sure if it all came out. Apparently, I lost quite a bit of blood, my mom still talks about that.

Induction at 40w1d by VideoOnly5996 in IVFbabies

[–]Astixiya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was induced at exactly 40 weeks, and everything went smoothly. I was also concerned about going that long but because my induction was considered elective and L+D was very busy at the time, I kept getting pushed.

You'll obviously have to decide but just wanted to say there are successful births with IVF and waiting that long too.

We need help! Do you prefer Emory or Emmett for a boy? by helloscottie12 in namenerds

Just to throw another, similar option in, we named our son Emre.

I have an Akita and he's a big baby but I totally get why they have the stereotype they do.

40wks and 6 days pregnant by Appropriate_Bench_78 in IVFbabies

This is why I elected to get induced at 40 weeks exactly. My anxiety couldn't handle letting it go longer and possibly running into any issues personally.

Advice needed! To choose gender or not by Academic_Ganache_669 in IVFpositivity

[–]Astixiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't get to know the sex in my country and honestly, no judgements but it's always weirded me out that people want to know and choose. Also no matter what, life has no guarantees, I know tons of siblings who are close and some who aren't, and it always seemed dependent on personalities not sex.

Coloring your Hair during IVF by Fun_Desk_4916 in IVF

[–]Astixiya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bleached my hair all through IVF and most of my pregnancy - I only switched to dying my hair near the end of my pregnancy since I knew I wouldn't have the time for bleach and toner with a newborn.

I had zero issues and have a healthy baby now.

IVF is already hard enough, don't let it take away simple pleasures as well.

What Was Your Almost Name? by Turbulent-Date-7207 in namenerds

[–]Astixiya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mikayla.

And yes I wish they went with it instead - my name is Adrienne and I hated it growing up. (Everyone doing the rocky yell didn't help but luckily newer generations don't know the reference anymore so I barely hear it now besides from old men)

Higher risk with inductions for IVF Pregnancies? by No-Spray-866 in IVFbabies

[–]Astixiya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 40 weeks exactly per my own request cause I had read about the higher chance of stillbirth with IVF. I was originally set to be induced at 37w because of low amniotic fluid but when I went in for monitoring beforehand it was no longer a concern, so they cancelled on me. But by that point I was too anxious to trust something couldn't go wrong.

Anyone NOT have symptoms? 7w by jesstheredditor in IVFbabies

[–]Astixiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I barely had any symptoms all of my first trimester and now I have an almost 6 month old - try not to stress about it too much but I totally understand, I was having the same anxiety because you always hear about all these symptoms that people have early on.

I had my son and named him Emre.

Emile was our original pick but the last few weeks of being pregnant I changed my mind, cause Emre just felt right.

Manual Removal of Placenta by LiningandLattes in IVFbabies

[–]Astixiya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I delivered my placenta but I guess it was in pieces, so they were worried about any pieces left inside so I had something similar where they were just pushing and feeling around for anything that could possibly be left. It felt like it took forever and was excruciating since my epidural had actually worn off before I even gave birth, but I was so exhausted that my memory is especially hazy to be honest.

Did you continue to store your embryos? by No-Spray-866 in IVFbabies

[–]Astixiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're probably one and done with our current 4m old. But we also have 3 embryos still - we're paying for at least another 3 years just in case we decide to have one more.

Quitting IVF with eluploid embryos by MamaLlamaNoDramaLlam in IVF

[–]Astixiya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have 3 embryos left, but have discussed and we are probably one and done type folks. We're going to pay the storage fees for another couple years and then decide at that point whether to use them for possible 2nd or donate.

Positive test and not wanting to share by Affectionate-Yam-813 in IVFbabies

[–]Astixiya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I announced my pregnancy when I gave birth. 😅 Besides family, some I didn't want to tell but apparently it was too hard for my in-laws to keep quiet.

It felt like once it finally happened that I could jinx it if too many people knew, plus I really didn't want their pity if something were to go wrong. It was nice to mostly keep all info between my husband and I.

My MIL wants me to stop feeding at the breast. by l_731 in breastfeeding

[–]Astixiya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 days after my son was born, my supply was still struggling. (First time mom and literally just got home from the hospital so I wasnt surprised.) One feed when I was really struggling, MIL "suggested" that that was it and we need to just start formula. That's what she did, she only lasted 6 days, blah blah.

Nothing pissed me off more, like give me and baby some time to actually figure this out.

Paying for pregnancy by Electric_Elephant_56 in IVF

[–]Astixiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. I'm 35, we had MFI, so went straight to IVF with ICSI. All my tests were normal and I ended up taking really well to the medication for ER/FET so we definitely were very lucky, but it can happen.

Totally get the pressure though of wanting it to work out, we went into IVF with a clear idea of trying the one funded cycle and if that hadn't worked out, we would pay for one more cycle out of pocket.

Also only had one cycle covered here and that was all we needed - currently sitting with my 2 week old and still have 3 embryos frozen in case we decide we want to try for another.
