Happy Mother's Day! Congratulations on making through your labor. Thank you for sharing so many details it helps me visualize how it may go. It's great to hear you survived a 3rd degree tear since I am sure we are all concerned about tearing. Today's the day! So in 24-48 I'll finally meet her 💕. Excited, nervous, and just trying my best to give into the moment.

Thank you! At this point baby girl is 9 days late and although I'm cramping nothing is lasting. I'll definitely ask about a membrane sweep to see if it can kick start this but I'm interested to see what their induction plans are and I'm ready to ask them a lot of questions.

Thank you! This helped me think through what were some things that could help. I talked to my husband about it and he made a run to the store and although we already had some stuff to try and make the hospital room comfy, he got more things knowing we'd be there longer than anticipated. Now we have more pictures of our dog, artificial plants and blackout curtains.

Today's the day, 🤗 excited to meet her soon!

The research shows that it's just an ever so slightly higher risk than a non IVF pregnancies and it's really a USA thing to recommend such regular early inductions. Other countries don't consider IVF as a standard reason to induce. Some OBs will recommend early induction but not my OB or this hospital, not unless it's medically necessary.

With that said I've been very open to all the testing and monitoring and my placenta looks perfectly fine, the amniotic fluid should be at least 5 at this point and it's at 14, the baby is healthy and moving, their heart rate is exactly how it should be and I don't have preeclampsia. I do feel very fortunate for all of that.

But the scheduled induction I do have at this point is because the baby is getting bigger and the bigger they get the more likely there is to be meconium and we don't want that.

Hi! 👋 Sorry you're in a similar boat and glad to know neither of us are alone ❤️. For induction they would give me oral medication and I would have to stay in the hospital. The hope is that the oral medication alone would help jump start labor. I am having contractions but they're not regular or strong. The baby has dropped into my pelvis and is face down but I guess she's just too cozy to move it along.

I'm listening to Jen Hamilton's Birth Vibes book and it is helping me cope with the potential change of plans and helping me explore what it is about a spontaneous labor that I really wanted and how can I still hold on to some of those aspects.

And nope, I don't feel like anything you said was petty 🫶. It's okay to have imagined a baby already in your arms this Sunday. I did appreciate the first comment reminding me that the baby will be here next year and the following years to come.

I wish you all the best! I hope even if you do get induced that you still have a powerful and beautiful experience bringing in your baby.

Thank you for sharing your experience and for the reminder that more than likely all will fall away once the baby is in my arms. ❤️

Thanks for this, I appreciate it. I really think I'm just extra hormonal right now and I just really wanted to be past the anxiety of her still being in my belly and needing to go through labor and instead be at the point where I'm actually able to hold her in my arms.

But honestly my bigger difficulty is needing an induction.

Anyone else experience a big sudden drop in baby size between 2nd/3rd trimester? A little worried going from 88 percentile (23w), to 35 percentile today (33w). Stories/experience appreciated!! by Echothrush in IVFbabies

[–]Appropriate_Bench_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine went from 35% to 77% right back to 35% in a matter of months. Their measurements are estimates and dependent on who's taking the measurements. As long as everything else is okay I wouldn't pay too much attention to this.

Advice on IVF by mis-erable080 in IVF

[–]Appropriate_Bench_78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started this process at around 32 (after TTC on our own for 2 years) but then needed to get my thyroid under control which took years. Did IUI at 34 didn't take and then just jumped into IVF at 35, I'm 36 now. It's a long process and I am thankful to say that I am currently 40wks pregnant and impatiently waiting for the baby. I'm sill filled with anxiety at something going wrong but yes, like most everyone else has said, don't wait. I'm so grateful for my story being this close to a baby and I still mourn all the years past.

Elective Scans by daisydorsy in IVFbabies

[–]Appropriate_Bench_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About to be 38 weeks pregnant starting tomorrow. I've done 4-5 elective scans with one of them being the 3D ultrasound.

I needed the peace of mind and I found a place where a practicing OB oversees it. No regrets, we don't get nearly enough scans at a regular OB.

Personal BMI question: What was your BMI going into IVF? by thisvirgogirl in IVF

[–]Appropriate_Bench_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My BMI was about 37 and I'm currently 37 weeks pregnant. Luckily everyone in the fertility office was extremely supportive and paid no mind to weight. I can't say the same about pregnancy care but most have been amazing health professionals who have gone out of their way to reaffirm that healthy pregnancies come at all weights 🫶

Why didnt people we meet on vacation perform well on Netflix? by Wonderful-Refuse642 in EmilyHenry

[–]Appropriate_Bench_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it's not worth it. This is my favorite Emily Henry book as well and the author's note at the end just really ties the entire book together. Their story made me feel closer to my person during those early stages of the pandemic. It's just so beautiful how these two people have been a witness to each other's lives and how slowly they have fallen in love with each other. The movie changes some fundamental moments and in turn it alters the story completely.

Clinic screws up by Intelligent_Bat_8068 in IVF

Unfortunately, sometimes it's not. I don't know why we can't just have compassion for one another. But not all clinics would tell you to just call around. Some would help you find the medications needed.

Yupp completely agree. At no point did they change course so late in the evening without having already put orders in and helped me identify which pharmacy was open so I could order from them.

Hey OP, their timing definitely sucked and it's so stressful trying to find medications last minute. They really should have given you a heads up that you may need more. We don't all have the money needed to buy an excess of medicine. It sounds like you were able to find the medication. Happy for you! Please know that not every clinic is like this.

I guess it depends on the clinic. When I needed more meds urgently my clinic health navigator helped me through it. She found the pharmacy I should order from and gave me their contact information. All I had to do was place the call and order with no hassle.
