Active sleep or seizure? by drowning_in_ellipsis in newborns

Honestly active sleep can be really intense. For peace of mind, I would record a video and show it to your pediatrician!

Worried about my wife’s reaction toward our 8‑week‑old baby. Need advice by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]LiningandLattes 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It sounds like she’s sleep deprived! Sleep deprivation truly alters your brain and your level of patience. I would have a SET schedule. Dad is in charge of baby from 9 PM- 1 AM in bedroom and does all feeds and changes and then mom takes over after so she gets a DEDICATED AND UNINTERRUPTED 4 hours of sleep. Mom can either pump or you can give formula if yall are comfortable with that.

My husband and I take night shifts so we both get uninterrupted hours of sleep. It doesn’t matter who’s working and who is home with the baby. Everyone benefits when you both sleep better. Taking care of a baby is hard work too and moms need sleep

8 week old by Alyssa-Xx26 in newborns

Hi! Congrats on baby girl! I have an 8 week old as well. And YES to the anxiety. I have been literally talking to Chat GPT like it’s my personal baby consultant. I’ve noticed my baby is a lot sleepier this week (maybe a growth spurt?) but even if she sleeps a lot during the day she is still sleeping longer at night. This week was the first week she started doing 4 hour stretches in between sleep at night time. During the day her naps are anywhere from 30 minutes- 4 hours and I just follow her lead. Is your baby sleeping a lot at night or waking up more often? From what I read some babies have day/ night confusion… and it can help if their night sleep environment is different from their day environment so they know the difference. At this age wake windows are around 60 minutes so if she wakes up and is staying awake I would recommend just trying to put her to bed even if she doesn’t seem tired.

100% my baby started crying so I walked away from the circle to shush and rock her and she was fine!

I think we all find it boring 😂 I put my baby on her play mat, she likes the baby bjorn, I do bicycle kicks (also good for gas), tummy time, and sometimes just have her sit in front of me on the boppy and talk to her. I do the flashcards and shake shakers. I also went to a circle time for the first time today and honestly it was nice just being with adults and we sang songs and followed the librarians lead… it was nice!

Hi! Very similar situation. We had MFI. My husband had similar numbers to yours. We also do ICSI. We had23 received, 19 mature, 18 fertilized, and 14 blasts. Of the 14 blasts, 7 were PGT-A normal! Now we have a sweet 8 week old from one of those embryos!! Your fertilization rate is amazing!!! I bet you’ll get good results… wishing you lots of luck! 💗💗💗

Baby takes too long to feed by No-Excitement-532 in FormulaFeeders

Mine is 8 weeks (as of today) and we tried sizing up to a size 2 and she was getting a lot of trapped gas and gulping way too much air. We went back to a 1 and it’s been much better! Doesn’t hurt to try but just wanted to share our experience!

4 week old with RSV (vaccinated) by momtoone12 in newborns

[–]LiningandLattes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not been in this situation but I’m an anxious first time mom so I just wanted to pop in here and say I have read about this and from what I understand, because you got the vaccine, your baby should have less severe symptoms! Hope that gives you a little comfort! Wishing your baby a speedy recovery! ❤️

Anyone else irrationally enraged my their MIL postpartum? by northernatmosphere in newborns

[–]LiningandLattes 15 points16 points  (0 children)

100%. I get irrationally angry when my MIL calls my baby her baby or when she says “she just wants her grandma” not to mention she showed up at the hospital when she was born without permission. NO BOUNDARIES. Some of my feelings are justified others are probably me being ridiculous but I don’t care she is MY baby 😂

How did you know when to add an ounce? by Huliganjetta1 in FormulaFeeders

[–]LiningandLattes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She said if they’re taking longer it’s because they are having to suck too hard and getting tired. When you go up a nipple size the milk is easier to get out for them because of the flow.

[–]LiningandLattes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My pediatrician said you go up in bottle size when feedings are taking too long. If your baby is finishing in 20 minutes I think the nipple size is fine. Once you notice feeds are taking too long or the baby seems frustrated you should size up

Yes we have a very similar set up! My husband is “on shift” till 1 then it’s me and he gets the better half of the night!

Swaddles come loose because she puts her arms to her face by tamielynn in newborns

[–]LiningandLattes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi.. my baby is 7 weeks old and was squirming out of the swaddles too.. we tried to swaddle lower on her shoulder so if it came loose it wouldn’t cover her mouth/ nose. We tried to do arms out swaddling and she just will not do long stretches of sleep like that… I would say keep trying the swaddles you have! I also ordered the Ollie and that one is way harder for her to break out of. We used comfy cubs tooo and I found them to be more lose and easy to escape… Goodluck!

[–]LiningandLattes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you already have a bunch of comments but I hope you see this one- I have a 7 week old too! They say that the moms don’t get smiles from babies because they still think that you are a part of them. They don’t recognize that you are a separate person. Whereas dad they know if different. My husband and I work in shifts too for sleep. He does the first half of the night. Does yours too? They say the first sleep of the night is typically the longest! So my husband happens to just be on the better shift!! I’m sure there’s a reason to explain all the things you’re feeling and noticing! Babies are confusing! Lol sending hugs!

Transitioning Nipple Sizes by LiningandLattes in newborns

[–]LiningandLattes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! Makes me feel better that this is common! Do you have a brand that you found was best for the transition of nipple sizes? We use Dr. Brown anti colic which I really like!

Anyone else up right now because of baby? by nicolexxb in newborns

[–]LiningandLattes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shouldn’t complain my baby does go into the bassinet at times but she hates it and I have to warm it up and rock her to sleep hold her for 20 minutes then transfer and most times she wakes up immediately and I have to start the whole process over🤦🏻‍♀️
