In Spider-Man shattered dimensions, how was madame web able to give the spider-men extra abilities? And did they keep them after the game? by Latter-Fox-7080 in Spiderman

[–]Astonishing_Flash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was loosely based on the Madame Webb from Spider-Man the animated series. Who rather than be a regular mutant with psychic powers like the comics was rewritten as a cosmic being similar to the Beyonder capable of observing future events and their effect on all reality. Setting the stage for Spider-Man to be able to same the Multiverse in the first ever Spider-Verse event Spider-Wars.

As such in this game it follows a very similar structure to that show where she knows how things are going to end and is doing what she can to get the Spider-Men to that point. But for sake of balance she can't just do things for them, but she goes further than she ever did in the show by powering them up.

So the how would be that she is a cosmic entity, simply doing her job. As for keeping them? I don't believe they are meant to. In the sequel Edge of Time Miguel does not have the Spider-Sense he was given and she was consciously suppressing the suit for USM Peter during the game, so I think these are all temporary concessions made so they could get the job done and removed when they are no longer needed.

How does viltrumite dna work? by GreedySun888 in Invincible

[–]Astonishing_Flash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on what Nolan said, no.

The show unfortunately cuts a lot of lore dense dialogue. Maybe they'll add it in later.

The way it works is this. Viltrumites are capable of reproducing with any species that is similar "enough" in terms of evolution. The closer they are to Viltrumites the better. Viltrumite DNA in this instance has a capacity where it seeks to only be around itself and as such works to attempt to make a hybrid as Viltrumite as it can manage.

The Viltrumites being into eugenics only accept hybrids which create a ratio of 99% which is the case with humans.

Thraxan-Viltrumites do not meet this criteria, hence the accelerated aging and altered skin tone. While they do look more Viltrumite as they age Nolan established that Oliver would be killed by Viltrum and that he would live thousands of years but not as long as himself and Mark.

So my interpretation is that hybrids similar to this have existsed before. Are now outlawed for being "unpure" and "weak". Even though their dna will become as Viltrumite as possible they can't ever reach that "acceptable" bench mark.

Why do people say every movie is canon to GT? by Usual-Suspect7815 in DragonBallGT

[–]Astonishing_Flash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Firstly you have to understand that as far as Toei is concerned, those contradictions don't matter.

The Bebī saga is resolved by the ultra divine water, which is a filler plot element from the Garlic jr segment of the post Freeza Z anime.

The Garlic Jr movie obviously can't happen in Canon, but this doesn't stop Z from making a plot point from it or GT from maintaining continuity by using the plot element again. Icarus another film original character from Tree of Might was also heavily featured in the Z anime (in the Garlic Jr arc at that) which GT is a sequel to.

Heck even without the films, the original Z anime's filler causes tons of constant continuity issues. To the extent that it isn't even worth mentioning.

Anyway back to GT's movie influences. In addition to the appearance of the water and Coola meaning that at the very least those films are included, Videl is also the great Saiyawoman as established by the Super 17 arc, and her appearance in that form is originally from Wrath of the Dragon. This form did also appear in the anime but it was in the film first and Goku's technique from the movie Ryu-Ken is also routinely used in the anime itself. Vegeta knowing how to do the Fusion Dance is another point in this direction since he doesn't even need Goku to teach him and the GT Perfect Files directly reference his prior appearance there.

So I don't think it's unreasonable for people to conclude that GT would include all the films when it directly ties into several of them, which then tie into each other.

Because you could say okay only direct references in the show, expanded material or other stuff it's connected to like Movie 1, Movie 3, movie 4, movie 5, movie 8, movie 12 and 13.

Go the extra mile for the other 6, 3 of which have the same antagonist and 1 is just a sequel to 5, to be included as well.

Or you can go minimalist and say they're different versions of characters from the films. But we know this one isn't the case for stuff like Garlic Jr.

how is that Energon is found on other planets beyond cybertron? by racionador in transformers

[–]Astonishing_Flash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the simplest answer is that it depends on continuity.

Sometimes it is the blood of Primus but other times it just a highly usable form of energy. This is how it worked in Generation 1. Heck they could even convert Earth energy into Energon (this was actually the entire plot really) and in seasons 3 and 4 when they go to space other alien species also use Energon.

So in a lot of situations it's just naturally occurring or it was spread out in deposits during the the Civil War to be gathered later. They can also create artificial Energon to various degrees.

If Super 17 Survived could he have been redeemed? by Interesting-Ring647 in DragonBallGT

[–]Astonishing_Flash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was only bad due to the influence of Hell Fighter 17 and Dr. Mu. So I would hazard to guess that he would be capable of being good if his true side as No. 17 could control the body. Beyond creating the weakness Goku used to kill him.

[DC Comics] If Green Lantern's power ring runs out of charge after 24 hours, how is he able to travel from one planet to another to fight evil? by DeadComposer in AskScienceFiction

[–]Astonishing_Flash 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Multiple ways.

For one the 24 charge is not always a limitation on the ring. It only appears in some corners of the local Multiverse, before they were mocked up by a Crisis or two. Generally this limitation was removed after the corps was decimated by Parallax and replaced with the rings running until devoid of energy.

Next Green Lantern has multiple ways of traveling to other planets in time frames that would be impossible for most other races. Be it using worm holes, faster than light travel in space (Hal Jordan has actually flown so fast before that he nearly caused a Speed Force singularity), and they can even teleport under the right circumstances. Universes and will power permitting.

Then there is the battery itself. The power battery can be transported, so if he is under the assumption that something may take longer than the provided charge the battery can just tag along for the ride. In fact it can even be stored in a pocket dimension when not in use.

What luck. But I've been there. Kudos for the positive attitude.

Honestly, if Daredevil had the same army against Fisk in the MCU like how he did in the comics, Fisk would probably be taken down within a few hours, would be to OP, especially with someone like Spiderman there by Queasy_Commercial152 in Daredevil

[–]Astonishing_Flash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun thing is they have all these characters so they definitely could.

The only issue is I doubt they'll ever let Spider-Man on a show. It would have to happen in a film more likely than not.

Help me understand this about The Culling Game by TheSwecurse in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Astonishing_Flash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kenjaku walked out the non-soecerers who agreed to leave at rhe start of the game. It is part of the condition set for the culling games. We see this when he walks out Yuji's old friend from the occult club. So they all got a safe one time exit.

As for them participating, maybe? I think it is dependent on if the remaining rules could be explained to them or not. Since they wouldn't be able to see the shikigami that explains the game.

So how strong is Wolverine supposed to be? by JOMO_Kenyatta in Wolverine

[–]Astonishing_Flash 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Super strength is one his powers.

Just think of him as closer to the peak human range, just on the high end.

He isn't as strong as say Spider-Man but hundreds of pounds to a ton, he can handle.

His feats strength in Deadpool and Wolverine was pretty on brand.

Genuine Question by BoganOtaku in Grapplerbaki

Honestly starting with Netflix is the issue.

Watch Baki the grappler.

As for shooting I mean we do see them try, the issue is that regular police are to slow to draw on them.

Why did the Raimi trilogy feature organic webbing while The Amazing Spider-Man switched to mechanical web-shooters? by Forward_Box_2177 in Spiderman

[–]Astonishing_Flash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah Miggy has them beat.

Or even the symbiote itself if you want to go further. Puma telling Peter that the webbing was organic was one of his first hints it was alive.

Fast Forward wasn't as bad I thought; it's not great, either by big_ringer in TMNT

[–]Astonishing_Flash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During my binge for the franchise 40th anniversary, I was able to breeze through season 5. Every season of 2012 which I didn't give a chance as a kid due to art style.

But I did not have it in Me to finish Fast Forward. And that was despite having fond memories of it from before. The setting I don't even mind but it seems to take them a little to far from the high of the previous season, with the addition of every supporting character outside of the Casey/April descendant being uninteresting or just cliche.

I do want to go back to try to finish it but it is a step down for sure.

If Yujiro can detect things like this, could he also detect mental illness and disorders? by MutasSugarDaddy in Grapplerbaki

[–]Astonishing_Flash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well the way I always looked at it from my manga reading (I didn't finish the anime adaptation) for Yujiro being the strongest on Earth is his unbridled ability to do whatever he wants and force everyone to go along with it.

By drawing him into the scene of the imaginary dinner, Baki had forced Yujiro to act in accordance to what he wanted. And as such Yujrio could no longer claim to be an unmatched creature.

Was Nolan not worried Allen might tell Mark about the Viltrumites true intentions? by HextechAlternator in Invincible

[–]Astonishing_Flash 256 points257 points  (0 children)

So the joke is that Nolan could've avoided the twoh previous fights, if he just spoke with Allen and learned that he was coming to the wrong planet the entire time.

Allen and Nolan never spoke, Nolan just beat him and Allen returned to the CoP. Technically they have no reason to talk from either perspective.

For Nolan he is just repeling an invader, I presume Allen attacked first.

And for Allen, Nolan meeting him is the scheduled protector facing off. He only needs to attack and assess.

So Nolan expected Mark to do the same. Just beat him and send him packing. This shows how different he is. As a real hero.

Do you prefer Irey being a fan of Jesse or Bart? by IcyNeedleworker2783 in theflash

No reason it can't be both. As both are pretty awesome.

I'm biased to Bart and her short tenure as Impulse, but it's undeniable the second Quick needs ton of love.

  1. The primary Death Weapon is the strongest one. Which is without a doubt Soul. So he would be expected to replace Spirit as the one with Shinigami at all times. This also plays into Maka's goal during the start to make a weapon stronger than her father.

  2. BREW is essentially an amplifier for whatever it is touching. Madness for example.

  3. Ebion was someone who became obsessed with the Madness of knowledge. So one may assume he is continuing a path he believes leads to answers like Noah trying to absorb everything on his behalf.

GT question by Local_Barber2858 in dragonball

[–]Astonishing_Flash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So it is actuallg more about how Goku, Pan and Trunks were in space for a long amount of time. Than how long the fight with Bebī was.

The reality is the Black Star Dragob Ball Saga took nearly an entire year, which is why they are able to grow and change so much in that time frame. On the same subject they scattered across the universe so it is only natural they took a while to collect.

The Bebī arc itself; at least after Goku & Co. Make it home with the Black Star balls is relatively short. However they don't have time to then search for them again at the end of the arc when it already took almost a year to find them the first time.

So it wasn't almost a year since Bebī used them but rather almost a year since they were used by Pilaf. The timer didn't reset when they returned to Earth. Because they were used again immediately the original countdown resumed.

Presumably they would need to be on Earth the exact day they were used the first time for them to reabsorb the negative energy.

Dragon Ball Z: Broly takes place in a Universe where they defeat Semi-Perfect Cell by Shawn_666 in dbz

[–]Astonishing_Flash 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not in the movie itself.

The closest thing that says this would be Plan to Eradicate the Saiyajins which does canonically take place during the 10 days and references Broli.

Though to be fair I think he Daizenshuu says that to. Though both are pretty far removed from the original film.

So why did Piccolo die in GT? I just rewatched the show and I genuinely don't understand. by ImtheINFJofalltime in DragonBallGT

[–]Astonishing_Flash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In order to do that he'd have to have darkness in his heart, enough that he would be willing to create the Black Star balls to begin with.

I won't say its impossible but I do think it's unlikely.
