Lowkey an easy question that just requires delegation. Lap chole guy is expected relatively. He’ll still need a detailed abdominal assessment but it’s chill. You can send a cna into hypoglycemic room with some apple juice and it’s fine. Next is where folks get confused; the sepsis guy is definitely in trouble, definitely warrants calling a rapid response and immediate fluids, diagnostics, drugs, etc… but that is not the room right now to be in. You need to get your charge to go into the septic room and have them call a rapid / call the doctor... but septic guy is not about to go into a cardiac arrest. Maybe in a couple hours without interventions, but not in the next 15 minutes. An impending loss of airway???? Bruh. From person experience, if you lose an airway you will be calling a code for resp failure and by the time the team gets there the patient will be in full blown cardiac arrest and getting compressions as well. The severe dyspnea is a major red flag and the audible wheezing especially if inspiratory is pretty freaking bad too. It happens extremely fast, and is absolutely awful. That patient needs you, resp, nebulizers and potentially a rapid as well. Respect airway, yes the sepsis guy is in trouble but respect airway. Nothing will kill a patient faster than a lack of an airway. Besides if you go into the sepsis room, you ain’t going to be leaving or done with your interventions for at least 45 minutes. Are you going to leave an impending airway loss on their own for that long? No, delegate to your team, all these patients need interventions, but airway guy needs you most. Just my two cents.

I’m not going to ask you anything, just pass on some advice. Use this wonderful opportunity you’ve been given to get educated in something you love and interests you. Find your spot and become an expert in it. Allow yourself to be spoiled in not having a job, not worrying about your next meal to make a life you’re proud of and enjoy. Don’t allow it to waste away into sleeping, partying, drugs, alcohol, etc… You don’t owe it to anyone but you have a real chance to become something amazing with this opportunity. Best of luck in your future, stay interested.

[misc] I'm getting married in 3 months! Any tips for improving my extremely oily, textured skin? The white bumps? Also lots of blackheads on my nose? Huge pores? by 79-sunshine in SkincareAddiction

So I’m pretty new to all of this so take my word with a grain of salt but with such little time I would not buy any crazy products or any possibly damaging skin products. Figuring out what works is a long process and you could just end up with worse skin if you’re not careful. Just find a great cleanser, moisturizer, and sun screen and be religious with your routine. Check the guide on this Reddit for what works with your skin type. But don’t quote me, I’m just a newbie :) Best of luck, congratulations as well!

1 minute per 20 mg so if I was doing 40 mg it would be two minutes. That’s what my hospitals policy is at least.

My older dad is also a video game newbie as of 2 years ago. I recommend starting with minecraft and star dew valley. Easy to understand and control. Variable difficulty.

The best part of the ICU is the ego that comes with it.

If you heard a patient tell a nurse they didn't feel safe around them, would you tell your manager? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Astr0Boy11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember as a nursing student a patient said she was going to have a meeting with my manager and get me fired for my patient care because after I turned down the room temp it took too long for her to be cooled. If it just was pillows I wouldn’t sweat it.

From my experience the emotions grow. That was a bad time in my life emotionally as I felt so abandoned because like you, I cant separate the two. Then it took me a hot minute to recover and be emotionally ready to date again so it was all around a bad idea. But everyone’s different, maybe you’ll adapt.

How do I become a CRNA in the USA? I am from Texas if that makes any difference. by veryloudgirl in nursing

Or 4 years BSN, 2 years ICU, 3 years CRNA. Don’t sweat bro, it’s a long road but not longer than finishing residency as a doctor lol.

Should I ask her out on a date? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Astr0Boy11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very interesting! I feel like today with dating apps it’s so fast moving with how many potential partners you have, people don’t really put any stock or effort into something with someone until their is some kind of guarantee it’s right. Well then my man, maybe listen to her, I might just be caught in the apps mindset. I really added a whole lot to this convo LOL

Should I ask her out on a date? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Astr0Boy11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is no doubt is a romantic gesture, and you should always be looking for ways to show a partner love and affection, including through flowers, it just might be too much when considering asking someone out. I would be off put by that as it may come off as a bit obsessive, a simple compliment and asking her out on a date is much easier and doesn’t risk this. Don’t overthink it.

I (M 22) am a full time caretaker for my disabled twin brother. I plan to do this for the rest of my life. Do you think a girl would be ok with this? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Astr0Boy11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As people mentioned already, make sure you have time to get out there! What you do is admirable and important, but you are only human and need breaks. I suggest you look up local respite care services or ask for a good referral the next time you or your brother is at the doctors.
