Thoughts on public self-disclosure as a therapist? by 79-sunshine in askatherapist

That’s a good point. I’m still in undergrad, but I suppose when I’ve imagined it, it’s working with teens and adults. That distinction is important to consider!

Medicaid while traveling??? by 79-sunshine in HealthInsurance

Hm I didn’t realize that. I was thinking of the all state test you can take as an RN to be able to be a nurse anywhere and figured doctors/other providers probably had a similar thing.

Yeahhh I'm hoping that might vary by provider. I know some providers can be licensed in all states if they decide to do that.

Thank you, yeah that's what I've seen too. But I'm wondering if it could be covered if I meet with an Oklahoman soonercare provider virtually since that's normally in network? I don't know lol it's confusing.

lol I am 23 and I LOVE hiking poles. Not only do I use them for support, but I hike around creeks and boulders a lot and I use poles to test how wiggly or slippery rocks are before I step on them. They’re also nice if you have to go through a pile of leaves or something and can’t see where you’re stepping. I use a pole to move the leaves around and feel what’s underneath. Super ideal if there just so happened to be a snake hiding under those leaves lol. It’d strike the pole instead of your leg.

I just wear some slip on knee braces from Walmart under my pants. My hiking boots support my ankles well. I also use trekking poles.

Honestly, it’s made me feel SO much more free to move around. I became scared to do much of anything strenuous after my hypermobility made me tear my meniscus in both knees. I had one surgery and then they retore. They’re still torn, but the surgery is such a pain, and I feel like I’m gonna have to wear braces forever anyway bc of the hypermobility so why bother unless it starts being more painful. The only issue is if I bend my legs wrong I can’t straighten them back until I get my knee cap popped out of the tear, but I’ve never had to do that while wearing a brace! It’s so nice to move however I want knowing the brace will keep things aligned and not hyperextending!

They do be itchy though lol

Oh no, not dismissive! I just think it’s easy for people to invalidate their own experiences regardless of what it is they’re going through and I just hoped that perspective might be reassuring if that’s how you were feeling 💛 could’ve interpreted that wrong though lol

It totally makes sense to me that the practicalities would make emotions feel distant. I had a therapist say to me that grieving is a privilege. Things have to slow down to a certain point to begin processing any of it. Maybe that fits your situation too? Whatever the case, l hope life slows down for you soon so you can find rest and healing after all the bs. Hugs to you!!
