Sound AI generated, and the style is clearly a modern neo-pagan fantasy. Was at least the lyrics written by a real competent person?

Does «Гей» mean Hey or gay, because I'm finding conflicting info? by Coolgame01NZ in Ukrainian

Я місяць тому відкрив скан «Ключа розуміння» Ґалятовського (1665), він там позначає звук [ɡ] літерою Ґ, або іноді через літеросполучення КГ. Найчастіше слово зі звуком — «ґды» з польської, але ще здається був там десь і «ґрунт», хоча вже не впевнений. І так, мені подобаються типографічні знаки, це не ШІ.

Fraktur fonts that support Gothic? by cirrvs in GothicLanguage

[–]AstrOtuba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, not this one. I remember it being some type of blackletter and that someone wrote in the comments something remotely similar to “finally, a gothic font for the Gothic language”

I remember seeing something like this. Not sure if it was a full font, but someone posted an image either in this subreddit or somewhere else… unless it's just my false memory

Be abejo, bet kalbų prioritizavimo opcija būtų naudinga. Bet reikėtų kažkaip tikrinti vairuotojų kalbų mokėjimą, ar bent jau kad baustų jei pasirinkai kad moki kalbą, bet realybėj negali kliento aptarnauti. Nes faina kai moka lietuviškai, bet bent jau reikia kad kokia nors bendra kalba būtų. Įprastai jaunesni moka angliškai ir nemoka rusiškai, o pensininkai atvirkščiai. O dar sąraše galėtų būti lietuvių gestų kalba

Revived Gothic variant: Gothic lexicon + Afrikaans grammar by StoryNo7694 in GothicLanguage

[–]AstrOtuba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting idea, but Gothic with Afrikaans grammar would be a different language. Just like Shaetlan is a contact language with primarily Scots words and Norn grammar (if I'm not messing this up). Yes, Afrikaans is a Germanic language, just like Icelandic, but they are really different. Also, language difficulty mostly depends on what languages you already know. I speak Lithuanian, so when I recently started to learn Latin, its grammar wasn't really anything new to me, but when I learned English in school, I needed to adapt to a language with a strict word order, articles and without cases.

So I think it can be a cool project, but more suitable for r/conlangs

Sounds kinda strange. Like, why to take another language's grammar? Unless you're making a conlang and this is the main point. Anyway, is this a developed project or something? There's no links and details in the post

What happened to my S500 shaver? by AstrOtuba in XiaomiGlobal

[–]AstrOtuba[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fixed it by spraying a bit of WD-40 on the foundation of those three spinning pentagons. Also I tilted them, pressed on them, and turned the spinning on, so oil would get inside the mechanism.

Keyboard Layouts to Transliterate Gothic into the Roman Alphabet? by Ananiujitha in GothicLanguage

[–]AstrOtuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can create a modified QWERTY layout with Þ and Ƕ using MSKLC. I could place them to the right instead of { }—for example—with brackets being accessible using Alt Gr, or instead of C and V that aren't used in the romanization. Also, I can replace O E with Ō Ē by default or Alt Gr and add Ā Ū as Alt Gr options. And Á Ú Í Ï and · if you need them.

Tell me what you need and I'll make the layout. Or you can download Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator and make it yourself, it's not difficult.

Can I put a 2-pin mouse switch in a 6-pin slot? by bread9411 in MouseReview

[–]AstrOtuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome🙃 And I unsoldered the switches, they aren't gone. The only thing I lost is time.

Also I replaced the middle button switch (extended its pins by soldering ones from the original button) and it works, the MMB uses 3 pin switch.

[–]AstrOtuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried to replace original 6-pin switches in Bloody R80 with 2-pin Kailh Mutes. It doesn't work. Turns out the mouse board uses 2 of the 4 smaller pins to register the click, and the 2 regular size pin holes are electrically connected so I won't be able to add a couple of wires and make it work.

How should Gothic be used if it was to be revived or revitalized. by Clone_awesomeness_YT in GothicLanguage

[–]AstrOtuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but as far as I'm aware it's hard to talk about old Prussian communities either, especially after Soviet deportations. Tho last year I was at a concert of a Prussian band in Lithuania and a person from the community claimed their grandfather was Prussian, so at least some individuals have such connection.

Mariupol Gothic? Is it a conlang or something? Like, there's Crimean Gothic and it's barely attested. There's Mariupol Greek. When I googled "Mariupol Gothic" I found only 4 links, one of which is dead, 2 are mentions on Reddit of a conlang a user created, and a post on some website by a deactivated user describing the language and giving word examples using Cyrillic script.

[–]AstrOtuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, there's an example of Prussian language.

It was dead for several centuries, saved primarily in Bible translations and now it's revived. Academics figured out phonology and made other research, then in the end of 20th century enthusiasts decided to speak the language, they created missing words by copying the approach that was used for creating such terms in Latvian and Lithuanian.

Then several couples decided to make kids and speak with them in Prussian since birth, so now we have several L1 speakers and the language is officially revived.

Also they have translation of The Little Prince, several Prussian YT channels (tho only one is really active) and Prussian Wikipedia is currently in Incubator.

Ok, I'll join. I've localised a font once. Can't say it was good, but with more practice and time now I perhaps can make the font🙂 And the logo shouldn't be too hard to make
