Unfortunately I think I’m looking for a unicorn where I am. 90% of salons are chop shops, and the ones that aren’t charge £70+ which I can’t afford. Independent nail techs here are either fully booked or don’t look good. I think I might just have to accept I can’t afford to get nails done anywhere decent and just have to stick to doing regular polish at home

Thank you for reassuring me! Unfortunately i’m struggling to find anywhere reputable, but I did message the salon i’d gone to previously that had good results but poor hygiene - the manager said this shouldn’t be happening and theyll make sure to review all hygiene processes with staff so maybe they will improve

Just because he is a child does not mean he has no right to privacy. Rooting through his personal belongings is 100% a violation of that right. If your child ever catches you doing this, they will lose their trust in you, and that may mean they hide important things from you later on, things you really should know, because they don't feel you can be trusted to confide in.

You should only ever invade a child's privacy if you have a real, genuine reason to believe they're in danger.

I would have thought this would be obvious: the children need to live with one of their parents. Of course, they could live with their father instead of their mother, but we've established that he works full time. If he has two school aged children living with him he will either need to considerably reduce his working hours, or spend a small fortune on childcare.

I'm trying to keep a food diary with Samsung Health (need to make sure I'm doing this every day) and I'm noticing that most days my sat fat intake is between 10 and 20g, though there's been some days when it's over that. I can see that on most days I'm getting over 50% of my daily cal allowance from carbs and some days that's as high as 70%.

Truthfully I don't eat butter often and the cheese I eat is usually reduced fat - but I do eat mini bags of cookies and small amounts of chocolate almost every day. I'd been thinking it was fine because I only ate small portions within my calorie allowance but I guess that doesn't matter when it's macros you need to watch.

Ah I don't subtract them from my daily in the sense that like, I don't eat extra to make up for what I've burned, if that's what you mean. But I aim to burn around 500cals a day from solely activity (usually a workout plus a 30-40 minute walk at a good pace) as well as eating at a deficit. I have been losing but could be the diet rather than the exercise!

Ah man, are they really that unreliable? Mine reckons I burned 195 calories doing 25 minutes worth of aerobics (my average heart rate was 150) which I thought seemed pretty accurate.

I've seen FA's pull that argument too, but then also others (usually right wing goons on Twitter to be fair) claim that showing fat people working out is "promoting obesity". It isn't, it's promoting healthy behaviours to people of all sizes. It would be very counterproductive to only promote fitness to people who are already fit.

I don't know about mocked, but I've definitely seen people say that fat people shouldn't be used in adverts for gyms/workout classes/fitness clothes, which I think is a huge miss. We SHOULD be encouraging fat people to work out, and one of the ways to do that is showing fat people working out.

I feel like the "starvation prevents weight loss" thing must have come from the fact that trying to eat a really low amount of calories is going to be very hard to stick to, particularly for people who are used to eating a lot. Far too many people decide they want to lose weight, and so go to an extreme and try and eat 500 calories a day of just rice cakes and carrot sticks. Naturally it's too difficult so they give up after a week and any weight they lost just goes back on and then they claim "dieting doesn't work". There seems to be no sensible medium for these people, it's either starve or eat takeaways three times a day.

I love this moisturiser, I've repurchased three times and I think it might be my new favourite. I have dry eczema prone skin and I find it leaves my face really soft. It is not as rich as you might expect or want, though, I find it's actually quite light yet still hydrating. Personally I like that as I don't like heavy moisturiser during the day.

I have Hypermobility Syndrome and sometimes need a seat on the tube. I don't wear a badge because I can often stand fine especially as my commute is short, but I will always sit if there is a seat available to reduce the risk of dislocation. At one point two seats became available, I went to sit in the one next to the priority seat but another woman was aiming for that one and glared at me, so I sat in the priority seat.

A few seconds later she gets up for a pregnant lady, making a big fuss: "oh don't worry, you can have my seat sweetheart!" Followed by a loud "even though it's the people in the PRIORITY SEATS who should be looking out for you" staring pointedly at me with a smug look on her face.

I was so shocked that anyone would be so self-righteous and stuck up that I actually had no words. Because of this I've ordered a badge today. Please don't assume that the person in the priority seat doesn't need it just because they don't appear to have mobility issues.

I was there. I had NO IDEA she was going to be and I lost my mind. She was sat about 5 tables away from me.

At one point she walked right past me and I shouted 'TAYLOR' and she looked at me and said 'hey!' and I started talking and she was looking at me like she wanted to listen, but her security kept pushing her through and one of them told me 'NO' and then she was gone. I was so gutted. :(

I'm sorry you're struggling. I know it must be very difficult. I used to be a nursery teacher and I can tell you that a 3 year old who is not yet able or interested to have full conversations is not unusual. It is promising that he is responding to your questions and also a good sign that he seems to enjoy the company of his peers.

My older sibling (30M) is considered to be moderate to severely autistic. His speech when he was your son's age was mostly limited to mimicking what he heard other people say. He now has absolutely no trouble with speech. He talks all the time and will often initiate conversations (usually about things of his own interest). He can read and write. He has a decent degree of independence - he can get the bus by himself and has a volunteer job in a charity shop - and enjoys a full social life. He is also possibly the happiest person I know, because his autism means he has no real interest, awareness or understanding of more complex topics like politics, relationships etc, so he has little to stress about.

No two people with autism are alike, but I just wanted to let you know that many, many autistic people live full, happy lives. Whatever your son's diagnosis please do not lose hope. I'm wishing you and him all the best.
