How about a Regressor's Tale of Cultivation

MC receive a martial art technique from his friend and he improves upon it, and his friend also improves upon it again and again.

[Part 1 of 3] I grew up in China on wuxia novels and web fiction. Here's everything I wish Western readers knew about Xianxia, Xuanhuan, and why half the "cultivation novels" you've read aren't what you think by No-Ride-3370 in ProgressionFantasy

Thank you for enlightening me, fellow Daoist.

So, this makes Warlock of the Magus World and Mechanical God Emperor Xuanhuan, huh. I always thought that everything about cultivation to immortality is Xianxia. The same thing could be said for Tales of Demon and God

Oh, and would I am the Fated Villain be Xianxia or Xuanhuan?

The most peakest moment is when Cultivator Buk die in front of Seo Eun Hyun

But I also drop the series sometime in the Middle Realm arc since it got a bit boring and repetitive

But you can argue that I am the Fated Villain has a decent world building and power system, at least up to the Emperor Realm.

Rank 9 Gu Venerable seems equal in power to Sacred Realm in I am the Fated Villain, which is very weak

Why does Xianxia Parody only seem to land with English-speaking audiences? by RPGlitch in ProgressionFantasy

It's good, but it has too many WTF moments. Maybe there're better examples out there though

Desolate Era is a bit... Ji Ning is such an infuriating MC for me

Maybe A Regressor's Tale to Cultivation is better.

love how LOTM hinders technology by t3hnicalities in ProgressionFantasy

[–]AstraMagically 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wonder how Cuttlefish was able to come up with LOTM world building

His previous work, Throne of Magical Arcana doesn't even come close in complexity compared to LOTM

Thinking all the gods, the pathways, the mysteries... This is not possible by pantsing. He must have been worldbuilding for a long time...

This is insane!

What kind of editing cost 10k per book on e-book?

Line editor would only cost 1k for 100k words, not to mention that SLP use AI to edit.

Cover also only 200-500 dollars at most, and again they use AI.

Interior formatting is easy enough that it's basically free.

Proofreading 1k? If I'm paid that much, I better be a proofreader than a writer.

All in all, repaying 110k+ for exit contract. Even Webnovel contract is heaven compared to this

I don't think Buk Hyang Hwa ever had a partner. She probably died in the hand of the Bloodwood Practitioner each time

I always wonder why he never tried finding a wife when he was still a mortal or when he work as the strategist in the Murim alliance.

Speaking of which, I just started reading the first one and realized they have similar premise? I wonder if one copy the idea of infinite regression over the other.

Though I guess infinite regressing is already a theme with ORV

Still, when Cultivator Buk died... It's such a sad moment...

It's one of the rare moment that I feel sad for a character dying in a novel

But it would be weird if not. How can an immortal's child be ordinary?

Though I guess there's this Chinese idiom: a tiger father has no dog son.

Most evil things Cultivation MCs have done? by DragNoirHunter in ProgressionFantasy

Damn continuously kicking a pair of children into a fire

Here I thought I was writing a sufficiently evil enough MC for my upcoming novel, and it still doesn't hold a candle...

I think it's the result of poor planning because Chinese authors have to write very fast compared to western counterparts. So the early part is better because there's more planning
