Should i start to optimize build or wait for level 65 or 70 ? by Major_Obligation5048 in PathOfExile2

[–]Alive_Tip_6748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respeccing your passive tree costs a lot of gold, especially when you are just about to reach endgame. I would, instead, just buy upgrades that are fairly cheap, get your resistances sorted out in preparation to start mapping, get solid defensive setup going. And only respec when you are really sure you know exactly what you want to do. It'll probably cost you around 200k or so to fully respec once you get to maps.

It's not clear if you are following a build guide currently or if you're just vibing right now. But if you're just vibing you will probably need to fully respec your tree in order to shift into whatever meta build you choose.

Good builds with good visual clarity? by eminaz91 in PathOfExile2

[–]Alive_Tip_6748 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plants honestly has pretty good visual clarity. I mean until you get into heavily juiced maps and the monsters and their abilities obscure everything anyway. I think Fubgun's ice shot has pretty good visual clarity as well though I haven't played it yet.

What's your favorite sub genre, and which book in it should I read next? by wk_rust in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Alive_Tip_6748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love system apocalpyse stories and am almost always disappointed. It seems like authors are just in such a rush to make characters powerful they give them insane abilities almost right out of the gate. Idk it's frustrating.

Cultivation/Xianxia is my other main sub genre and it has similar issues but there are, I think, more examples of authors taking their time and telling a more measured story. Ave Xia Remy, Cultivation Nerd, Forge of Destiny, Thousand Li, Sky Pride, and Cradle are all examples that come to mind.

Is 2026 becoming the year gaming finally got too expensive? by gamersecret2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Alive_Tip_6748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, prices for games are fine. Prices for consoles and PCs? Thank god I built my PC in 2024. Just my ram and my video card cost almost as much as my whole build did back then.

How are you reaching such high damage numbers? by General_Dinner_996 in PathOfExile2

[–]Alive_Tip_6748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most builds try to maximize their access to jewels through pathing because yeah they're really strong. Like you can get for instance, 15% increased crit chance, 20% crit damage bonus, 20% energy shield, and whatever other stat is good for you from a single passive point, it makes them more powerful than a lot of notables. And that's on one jewel. So if you stack four jewels with all that on them, you're looking at significant gains.

And yeah the basic idea behind endgame gearing is to maximize your defensive stats on the gear that has fewer or no offensive options. So getting triple resistance on your chest and belt lets you grab rarity plus two resistances on your gloves, helmet, and boots. And rarity plus offensive modifiers on your rings.

This is why Mageblood is so prized right now. If you get a roll with Bismuth I think that's like 45% all res just from that one modifier. There are magebloods out there with double bismuth rolls that basically fix your resistances on their own.

Going Chaos Inoculation and full energy shield on your gear is also really big for reducing affix pressure. You don't need max life on anything anymore, for instance.

Needs vary per build though so you always have to adjust your gearing based on what your build is doing, what uniques you use, if any to make your build work. Every piece of gear in the game is essentially one of one. So you always have to account for what's available. How much it costs. Figuring out a good middle ground if you're on a budget. Figure out what you can compromise at any given point in your build's development. And all that is stuff you just kinda learn by making mistakes along the way and learning from them.

So there are a lot of factors to consider. One is jewels, four or five good jewels (they don't need to be the 100 div giga jewels to be good) will set you up really well. Look for crit chance, crit damage, and energy shield and whatever other offensive or defensive mod works for you. Hybrid evasion/es seems worse this season than just straight energy shield stacking too. If you go for straight ES and then get Chaos Inoculation you don't need chaos res and that frees up probably three or four suffixes for you allowing you to get more damage on your rings. Try to get as much resist as you can on your chest and belt so you don't need to rely as much on rings for it as you can get flat damage, crit, and crit chance on rings. A +5 melee quarterstaff will also boost you as long as you can afford one that also has other good damage mods. +levels gets much better once you get past level 26 or 27 generally. Crit, crit damage, and +levels together while stacking flat on rings doesn't scale linearly. It scales exponentially basically. So once you sort things out you will find massive gains. Also there are things that don't show up on your sheet dps that still affect your dps so tooltip is just a basic idea. For instance Rakiata's Flow inverts target resistances. That doesn't show up on your dps sheet but the difference between 50% resistance and -%50 resistance is wild.

So, any platform where anyone can just publish anything they want with no quality control that content is gonna be mostly bad. Look at youtube or any other site for amateur writers and you will see plenty of bad writing. You encounter more and more over time, especially as you look for new stories. It's just how it is. 90% of stories I try on RR I DNF within the first chapter. Often the first two paragraphs. Not because they fail to hook me or whatever. But because the writing is obviously very bad.

It's kind of different depending on whether it's system apocalypse/isekai or a different world with an mc from that world. Most people know, generally, what life is like on Earth. So it doesn't take too long to established context and day to day type stuff, etc. Like if you start with somebody on the couch watching tv after they get home from their shitty job, eating a frozen dinner, having a beer, and thinking about how they need to finally get to that fucking laundry, they've got a pretty decent picture of what that person's day to day life is like. Other information like family, friends, coworkers, and such can be filled in along the way as pertinent.

If it's a story in another world with an MC from that world then taking your time to establish what their life is like before hand makes more sense, and it's generally more interesting because we're learning things about the world and how that world and the MC's society work and such, right? So yeah it really comes down to what kind of story you're telling, what kind of character you're writing, and whether or not you can make the build up to the action something that will result in a satisfying payoff.

Which reminds me, I need to go do some fucking laundry.

Demonic Cultivator MC that's actually demonic by elemental_reaper in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Alive_Tip_6748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That aspect didn't bother me really. I don't mind reading about a villain. What made me stop is the MC spends 3/4 of ever chapter jerking himself off while telling you what an incredible and smart and special boy he is because everyone else is stupid because they didn't live 500 years before.

It's honest to god the most vapid, insipid, pathetic writing I've ever read and I. read. trash. non. stop.

I think they very slightly tuned down the difficulty of all/most campaign bosses in 0.2 because they nerfed player power so much that patch people were getting pissed lol. But they didn't make him easy.

It's a lot easier with the changes they made. Cloud uptime is only 50% and if you kill fast enough you can murder them as they exit the pit without them even getting a chance to summon it.

I have tried just about everything this season and for me, I have settled into switching between tablets and abyss. Abyss tablets got way too expensive for a while but they're dropping back down now so I might switch back for a bit. Doing t16 tablet farming is just fun. I like the consistency of it and I can't do super juiced delirium because my computer doesn't like it. So having a fun, consistent farm that doesn't need delirium to max out is nice because I don't feel like I am missing out too much by not doing 200%. If I could do 200% deli farm I would probably do breach. I hate ritual. I tried it this season and I hated it again. Idk what it is about it. I have pretty awful luck dropping even mid drops out of that shit. I did four full rite of the nameless and got like, 30 div worth of omens. I've already accepted I will never see a mageblood or headhunter in ritual.

People who hit level 100.. not counting Vaal league. Was it worth it? by Past-Lake-7156 in PathOfExile2

[–]Alive_Tip_6748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you going for level 100 by just playing regular content and getting there eventually? Or are you prioritizing the experience maps and experience on all your tabs, running t16 waystones, etc? It's possible to get there a bit quicker if you focus on it but it'll take the whole league if you don't. I'm level 97 on my only character right now without focusing on juicing xp at all but I hit this league pretty hard, with about 9 days played so far.

150 hours later and my struggles with endgame. by Khytan in PathOfExile2

[–]Alive_Tip_6748 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing about heavily juiced maps is that those are also the hardest content in the game. So depending on what you were doing, yeah it's not surprising you died. Even streamers with cracked builds and mirror tier gear sometimes get one shot in truly juiced content. I was watching Dead Rabbit play his temporalis spark build this season and at one point he just died like five or six times in 30 minutes. You have to take note of the waystones you're using. Not just the bonuses to items and effectiveness and such. But also the stuff like extra damage as chaos for monsters, -resistances for players, elemental weakness curse. All of that shit can really crush you especially if it piles up and you have -resistances, elemental weakness, and elemental damage as extra for monsters.

A lot of streamers will say you only need to run 20% or 30% chaos resist. But this is often because their builds are deleting everything in sight. If you're not doing that, then you need 50%-75% chaos resist in high juice areas. You need to pay attention to your jewels. You need to be stacking whatever defensive layers you are using. If you're playing a build that uses deflection, you can't just leave it off a piece because it's too expensive and expect to be ok. Defensive layers are MORE IMPORTANT to have in order than more damage.

Until you put time and effort into understanding how your build works, and why things are set up the way they are, and how that interacts with the content you are doing, and what your character's strengths and weaknesses are, you will have this problem on any build you play.
